Meghan and Harry began their second busy day in Cape Town by travelling to Monwabisi Beach to see the work that Waves for Change does with supporting mental health services to vulnerable young people living in under resourced communities.
We loved this casual look for the event… Many of you have described it as “classic Meghan”, the kind of style we saw from Meghan in her pre-Royal days in Toronto. Seeing pieces from her pre-Royal days mixed with newer pieces just continues to show us that her style hasn’t fundamentally changed – it’s just on a much larger stage that we see it!

Best look so far, Meghan looks so at home here, both in her outfit and in a sunny country! This is the casual chic she excelled at when still single and she pulls it together perfectly. The raised collar, the causal sunglasses, the neat updo all fit together. The denim jacket is perfect, such a neat length, these look so awful when they’re too long. Her familiar jeans, white shirt and those oh-so-comfy flats stand her in good stead and the Madewell tote ideal for the beach. There seems to be a developing theme of low-key repeats here, though we’re building up to a smart reception tonight so posh dressing hasn’t yet gone out the door!

I sympathize with them and the negative press of late. And I understand they want this tour to be ‘of the people’ and somewhat low key BUT it’s a royal tour and they could at least look tidy. The choices are not ‘break out the couture’ or dress like a couple of college kids. This outfit is almost exactly what I wore today to drop off my older kid at school, while wearing my younger kid in a carrier. I think it’s actually disrespectful to their hosts. This applies equally to Harry – who is consistently the sloppier of the two.

This is like peak Meghan. Love this casual cool look. Although tbh, I have never been a fan of woven shoes. Reminds me of the Friends episode where Chandler’s toe got cut off.

Finally something I already have!!! Love Madewell. Their bags are wonderful.

I’m not sure if the toned down fashion choices are a response to negative press, or if it’s just an effort to be relatable to the people in areas where poverty is sadly far too common. But either way, I’m enjoying seeing Meghan in the casual chic outfits I originally fell in love with. I’m also having fun watching her style her outfits with flats! We don’t see much of that from her anymore, and as someone who can no longer wear flats, I take great style inspiration from the outfits she puts together with flats.
Being that it’s a royal tour, I have no doubt that when the occasions call for it this week, they will break out the high end designer outfits we expect from royals. Just looks like we are going to have a nice mix of high and low this tour. Refreshing….

Laura, I believe Meghan has chosen to wear a regular person’s “work clothes” in an impoverished area instead of what she would be expected to wear as a royal on duty. She says she wants no red carpet and no royal treatment.
I think we will, alas, see her back in her exorbitantly priced clothes in due time. 🙁 I am hoping to her tonight though in a smashing gown.

Meghan is blending in with her surroundings very well. She is dressed appropriately for the place and event. The denim jacket is a perfect fit, I like the length of it. The subtle pieces of jewellery I love simple, delicate and refined.

Cute, casual outfit.
