Meghan's Mirror

Chronicling the Chic, Classic and Casual Style Duchess of Sussex (the former Meghan Markle)

June 16, 2018

MirrorMeg the Royal Wedding

Now that it’s been a whole month since Meghan Markle married Prince Harry at St. George’s Chapel and became HRH The Duchess of Sussex – we are only now finding ourselves able to answer the dozens of e-mails in our inbox (we love them, keep them coming!).

One of the more popular questions we’ve received is how brides-to-be can MirrorMeg Meghan’s classic bridal style – but without the royal price tag. Fear not! With the help of our team of stylists, we’ve scoured some of our favourite budget resources and pulled together several options for you.

The Ceremony Dress

Meghan wore a custom Clare Wight Keller for Givenchy dress, a style evoking classic lines, minimal detailing and a clean, fresh look. While the dress has not been universally adored, one thing we can say for sure is that it’s very much Meghan’s taste – with a large dash of royal subtlety included.

The Tiara

The final touch to Meghan’s wedding day look was the addition of Queen Mary’s diamond bandeau tiara, lent to Meghan by The Queen. We hope it’s one she will get to borrow again as it was a stunning choice for her.

The Earrings

OK, so it’s probably not reasonable to assume that all of us could whip out to Cartier to pick up a pair of these stunners for our own weddings. But there are many options out there to get the same look for much (much) less.

The Shoes

With a long wedding dress, Meghan’s custom Givenchy shoes did not get a chance to really be seen other than a few glimpses as she made her way down the steps with Harry – but we imagine them to be quite plain white satin shoes.

The Evening Dress

Meghan’s second dress of her wedding day, for a private reception held in the evening, was slinky, sexy and all together a different look than the dress millions had seen earlier that day. This dress was, in our view, much more “Meghan”.

Overall, Meghan’s wedding look is one that will go down in the history books as a look that is, no matter your thoughts on the dress itself,  a wholly appropriate royal bride look. Those of us without the royal trappings can take elements of Meghan’s look and make it our own, perhaps incorporating some of the look of Meghan’s second dress, which speaks more to who she is. We’d LOVE to hear if you’re incorporating any Meghan Markle bridal inspired looks in your wedding day!

    Love the article! Good choices.
I was wondering though, do you know the color/type of lipstick/nail polish she usually wears? I know she prefers Essie in nude/light colors, but I don’t the names of the colors. I would also like to know the color/brand of the lipsticks she uses. I adore those nude shades!! I’ve been looking for a beautiful nude color lipstick for a while now…!

It’s one of, I know. But the color of lipstick she’s been using lately is much more pink-ish than Very Victoria.

She wears Essie Ballet Slippers nail polish. As far as a pink lipstick goes, you may want to try CT lipstick in The Duchess. HTH!

Thanks for such a sweet post MM!! I wish I could talk my husband of 19 years into having another wedding but I doubt it 🙁 lol

Meghan really was a beautiful bride and while I absolutely loved both dresses, the veil and that stunning tiara I feel that her radiance and the love between her and Harry was her best accessory. I definitely shed more tears for their wedding then I did at my own ☺️
