August is one of the most popular months to travel, and here at Meghan’s Mirror, we’re packing our own suitcases for a trip abroad. Naturally, this got us to thinking – what would Meghan Markle pack in her suitcase? We’ve seen her travel style before, and we know all about her signature looks, so we’ve broken down a Meghan Markle-inspired travel capsule wardrobe. 7 days of outfits, 12 mix-and-match looks, all fitting into one carry-on suitcase.
To pack the perfect suitcase, we looked to Everlane – one of Meghan Markle’s favorite brands. Everlane’s focus on sustainability, transparent pricing, and ethical business practices show that they aren’t just a fashion brand, they are a game changer. MM Editors Amanda and Christine both love the brand, and every Everlane piece has lasted year-after-year, wear-after-wear, and still looks totally amazing. We’ve shared some of our personal thoughts on our favorite Meghan Markle-inspired Everlane pieces, perfect for travel.
What To Pack
CASHMERE CREW NECK CARDIGAN: A staple that can be worn on its own, or on top of any combination of tops. Everlane’s cashmere is amazing quality knitwear at an affordable price. MM Editor Amanda says: “This is a classic closet staple that is very soft and very chic, I wear it all the time”
DENIM JACKET: Another versatile piece that can be worn over any shirt. It also helps to tone down the jumpsuit for a more casual look. Best of all, we already know that Meghan Markle loves a denim jacket!
COLLARLESS AIR BLOUSE: For cooler days outside, or afternoons spent in crowded museums, this blouse looks super chic and stays super cool. MM Editor Amanda says: “This is lightweight, breezy, and stylish. For a quick outfit, I pair this with a pair of tailored jeans and flats, and I’m out the door.”
CLEAN SILK OVERSIZED SHIRT: Meghan Markle loves a simple button-down shirt, and this one from Everlane, in a Duchess-approved olive hue, will get plenty of wear on your next trip. MM Editor Christine says: This top is so soft, silky, and I can put it on and run out the door, knowing I look chic.
CASHMERE CREW SWEATER: Lightweight enough to be worn in most moderate climates, from London to LA. In fact, Meghan Markle famously wore an Everlane crew sweater on a flight to London in 2017. MM Editor Christine says: This is a perfect investment piece – the sweater is soft, beautiful, and so easy to throw on for a put-together look.
JAPANESE GOWEAVE ESSENTIAL JUMPSUIT A jumpsuit worthy of a Duchess! This is such a great, lightweight piece that packs a punch – dress down for a day of shopping, and dress up for dinner and cocktails. It evidently looks good on everyone, so if you haven’t grabbed one yet, you must!
AUTHENTIC STRETCH MID-RISE SKINNY JEANS: These jeans just do. not. quit. The stretch makes them feel like leggings, but the quality makes them last wear-after-wear. Meghan Markle loves these jeans, and you will, too. MM Editor Christine says: I love Everlane jeans, period, but I especially love the 26″ inseam – helloooo ankle jeans that actually show off my ankle!
BLACK DAY GLOVE FLATS AND NUDE EDITOR SLINGBACK FLATS: These are both comfortable enough to wear all day long, but the Day Glove provides a more casual look while the Editor Slingback is dressy enough for a night out. Flats pack up easily and are practical for a day of exploring. MM Editor Amanda says: The Day Glove flats are worth the hype – comfortable, super cool, and easy to wear all day long.
THE MARKET TOTE: *The* Market Tote, as famously seen on Meghan Markle. Roomy enough to pack a picnic, lightweight enough to carry all day long. MM Editors Amanda & Christine: Our favorite tote bag, possibly of all time.
