Meghan and Harry attended the low-key, intimate christening of Lena Elizabeth Tindall, the youngest child of Harry’s cousin, Zara Tindall. Harry was reportedly made godfather at the special occasion.

It was an unexpected sighting to see Meghan after it was announced that she was on “maternity leave” so we were delighted to see her out celebrating the joyful day with family.
Meghan looked winter chic in a deep burgundy coat in a taffeta-style fabric. She accessorized with her black vanity box clutch from Victoria Beckham and a navy beret-style hat from Stephen Jones, both pieces we have seen before. Meghan’s coat comes from William Vintage – the unique 1950s style comes from Dior Haute Couture!

Love Meghan’s look today? We asked the team to come up with some of their favourite #MirrorMeg options:
What did you think of Meghan’s look for Lena Tindall’s christening?
I don’t think that a bespoke coat would have such loose buttons, it looks unprofessional or maybe its a new look that the designer was going for. I don’t know.
The coat is a nice color, though.
It is not bespoke it is a vintage coat. Those terms are not interchangeable and it does not look unprofessional.
Love that she is wearing a lot of vintage pieces!
I noticed the buttons, too, because I ALWAYS have that problem with coats and end up having to reinforce them. Surprised no one did that here, especially as it is vintage…would be hard to find a replacement button if lost!
Not a fan of the wooly beret and the silk taffeta coat! Surprised to see her out so late in her pregnancy. The due date is April?
Why do you think that a 34-35 week pregnant woman won’t go out for a family event? I guess that’s not exceptional.
Not a fan of the outfit too.
Most women work right up to their due date if not longer. Why n earth shouldn’t she be out socially ?
I like the beret. Then again, I like berets. It’s just a matter of personal taste. When I need to cover my head during our long winters (US Northeastern), I prefer to wear a beret or a cap rather than a beanie or a hood. I find that wearing a beret on my way to work doesn’t mess up my hair much, so when I arrive to work I don’t have to spend a lot of time in the ladies room just fixing my hair.
On a side note, I am not surprised at all to see the DoS out so late in her pregnancy. In our modern world many women work throughout their pregnancy unless they have a medical issue.
Hi Eva #2, how do you keep your ears warm wearing a beret? Serious question as I live in a cold area and am so tired of beanies and hat hair.
Hi Lauri,
On windy, blistery days I also wear a wide scarf that I just pull up to cover that area when needed (then again, I do this when just walking from my parked car to a short destination: work/shopping, ect).
Count me as another that’s not a fan of the beret and coat together. It’s hard to tell, but it looks as if the beret is a dark blue instead of black? But she’s carrying a black bag.
Not one of her better outfits.
Expecting a baby is not an illness. Most women who work do so right up to their delivery date. It is lucky to be able to take a month off prior to delivery. Meghan looks wonderful and healthy.
Oh my, I love the color of this coat!! One of the things I like about Meghan’s style is her ability to wear unusual and unique pieces like this coat. I hope we get to see her wearing it in the future!!
I’m surprised by how many don’t like this look! I actually think it is one of the better looks she has worn during her pregnancy – a nice combination of traditional and different. Would have liked to see what she was wearing under the coat!
P.S. I am in my first trimester of pregnancy – and I already wouldn’t mind staying home all day! Phew!
I hear you! Believe me it will get better!
I love the vintage coat. I wonder how old it is and who designed it.
Hi Marlene!
It’s Dior – likely from around 1963.
xo,

I think it sad that the photographers (paps?) were altered to this event. Poor Zara – it was supposed to be private, the vicar didn’t even tell his parishioners it was going to take place.
Still her coat was beautiful, but I’ll join in with those who don’t ‘get’ the beret with the coat.
Please, ladies, the reason I made the comment was that it was thought she was on her maternity leave! In fact, the text mentioned the fact that it was a surprise to see her out on Sunday! FYI she was not “working” but attending a christening. Again the author of the blog mentioned it was a surprise her see her out and about! I think what throws off the look for me is the casualness of the beret juxtapositioned with the elegance of silk coat.
If I may, I think we meant that for us, it was not a “surprise to see her out so late in her pregnancy” because if some women can work throughout their pregnancy, then obviously they are able to go out socially during maternity leave.
Very professionally done. This is a much appreciated post. Thank you for sharing your beautiful post.
