Today, Meghan and Harry, along with other members of the royal family, attended the Royal British Legion’s annual Festival of Remembrance. The event is a yearly highlight in the royal’s festive calendar, and we expect to see the Sussexes year after year! The Festival commemorates all those who have lost their lives in conflicts, and celebrates their sacrifice and love for their country.
Meghan’s look was very elegant and appropriate for the event, where the dress code calls for black evening wear with a poppy brooch. Unlike other members of the royal family, Meghan arrived in a very stylish black coat from Stella McCartney, which we saw earlier this year. Underneath, Meghan wore an off-shoulder sheath dress by Clare Wight-Keller for Givenchy.

I feel sleeves were more appropriate for this sombre event. Look at all the other women there.

Agrée. I also think she hasn’t yet found the right color stockings, which is surprising.
Pam says
I agree also. It’s a stylish dress but not for this occasion. It looks more like an after 5 cocktail dress.
Julie Kaine says
Absolutely agree sleeves are best for this type of occasion. We’re not going for a sexy look.

Meghan looks lovely in black as always but I agree the somber occasion called for sleeves. All of the full-length arrival photos show some wet spotting along Meghan’s right leg and shoe – as if she and Harry spilled something in the car! (No one else had anything like it so I don’t think it was from the weather.) Such a human and endearing thing – the royals are people, too.

I’m so glad that she re-wore one of my favorite coats!! I love the tuxedo-esq look of this coat and the satin tie gives it a trim, figure hugging look. I thought the Duchess looked appropriate and very elegant tonight. I do want to give a fashion shout-out to the Queen!! The lovely cape she arrived in was to die for!!

I agree that the Stella McCartney tuxedo-inspired coat with the lovely silk belt is gorgeous and still looks great on Duchess Meghan.
Yes, it also seems at least from the lighting in the photos, that when the Duchess Meghan is wearing tights for formal Royal appearances, that they still are not the best match for her skin tone. She’ll get there! I’m sure her wardrobe team is taking note when they look at the event photos to review (as I’m sure they do!)
As for the lack of sleeves, this does not bother me, and while the other women chose to wear them, but it must not be a part of formal protocol other that wearing more conservative black dresses in general. She looks gorgeous and again comfortable, which is key as this pregnancy goes on! 🙂

The sleeveless looked more appropriate for a cocktail hour and the stockings were too nude! One note I loved Kate’s asymmetrical neckline on her dress! Was it raining? I think her foot was wet from the rain. I would like to know what products are being used on her hair to fight the frizzies! I need some of this ASAP!

I like the dress a lot but do agree sleeves would have been more appropriate…also because it is winter! The stockings are a misfire, too. I know companies often ignore women of color or give few variations for darker skin tones, but I feel with her money and resources she can find a better match than wearing nude ones.

A lovely but inappropriate dress. Notice how none of the other royals are showing anywhere near as much skin as Meghan is. She stands out in the group portrait, and considering the occasion, not in a good way. Agree that sleeves would have helped, but the neckline and skin shown call far too much attention to her. Sorry she did not keep the coat on as she did at Eugenie’s wedding, as the coat is perfection.

I love her dress…I am not too clued up on the events dress code/protocol but to me she looked stunning in that dress, especially that she came to the event wearing a coat and I know during my first pregnancy I used to have serious issues with heat(considering I also had my first child when I was 38)….. so I assume she might be going through some similar thing.
