We here at Meghan’s Mirror love love LOVE the fall. Sweaters, candles, hot cocoa, comfy blankets – all of it warms us down to the tips of our leather boots. What could make this season even better? This Meghan Markle-inspired Fall capsule wardrobe! It’s got all the standard staples, like sweaters and dark denim. But we’ve also added some pieces uniquely inspired by our ever-stylish duchess.
If you haven’t jumped on the capsule wardrobe bandwagon yet, now is the time. The goal of the capsule wardrobe is to assemble a collection of classic pieces that will match well with other items. By narrowing down the number of items cluttering up your closet, you’ll always have something to wear. Not to mention, you’ll actually save money by buying fewer pieces of higher quality.
To get the full Meghan experience, curl up with a cozy blanket and some red wine while you browse this post. Maybe a glass of Tig?
Navy Blazer
A navy blazer is essential in any wardrobe year-round, but especially in the fall. The dark color is quintessential autumn, and pairs so well with just about every other item in your closet.
We’ve seen Meghan wear navy blazers many times over the last few years. I think she’d be the first one to agree that no wardrobe is complete without one.
Wrap Coat
When Meghan and Harry announced their engagement back in November 2017, most people were dazzled by the beautiful ring. But I couldn’t take my eyes off her gorgeous Line the Label wrap coat in vibrant white.
A wrap coat is flattering on every body shape, so you don’t have to worry about that. Make sure you buy high quality for this particular item, as you’ll be wearing it as much as possible.
Puffer Vest
I’ll admit that I wasn’t a huge fan of puffer vests, until I saw Meghan wear a J. Crew style while on her way to yoga in London last year. It’s the perfect transitional piece, keeping you warm (but not too warm!) while the temperatures change erratically this time of year.
Pair this piece with a long-sleeve T-shirt and jeans, and you’ll look casual and cool on your daily Starbucks run.
Cashmere Sweater
If you’ve never owned cashmere before, you’re in for a treat. The fabric actually gets softer and cozier the more you wear it, so you won’t regret the higher price point.
Start with the classic colors of navy, white, camel, gray, and black. These sweaters will match every piece in your closet, and you’ll always have something comfy and chic to wear.
Silk Blouse
While Meghan was filming her TV series Suits, her character often wore silk blouses to work. They are a perfect piece for a professional wardrobe, pairing well with pencil skirts and trousers, though they can also be dressed down with jeans and flats.
Buy them in multiple colors and wear them any day of the week.
Cardigan
Another piece that Meghan often wore on Suits is a cardigan. Like the silk blouse, it can be dressed up or down, depending on the occasion. Cardigans come in multiple styles, from figure-hugging to long and loose. You’ll want at least one in each style, as they are versatile, warm, and never go out of style.
Chambray Shirt
Keep it cute and casual in a chambray shirt. We’ve seen Meghan wear her J. Crew style multiple times, and it never fails to look both understated and stylish.
The classic combo for this look is chambray shirt, dark wash denim, and a camel-colored coat. For an edgier look, try it with black leather leggings and ankle boots.
Black Denim
Every girl needs a black pair of jeans in her wardrobe. They match with literally everything else in your closet, and especially all of the pieces we’ve mentioned so far in this post. Meghan has worn them on multiple occasions, including several times on royal tours. Don’t be afraid to try different cuts and styles than what you’re used to. Get a skinny pair that’ll tuck into your boots. Go with bootcut and a leather jacket for a vintage vibe.
Pleated Skirt
To be honest, I often thought that pleated skirts looked a little too uptight – that was, until I saw Meghan wear one to announce her Together cookbook back in the fall of 2018. She looked classy and well put-together, and far from uptight and stuffy. From then on, I’ve wanted one in every color.
Try both knee and midi lengths to see which flatters you more. Combine it with sweaters, shirts, blouses, and sleeveless tops – the choices are endless.
Ankle Boots
Let’s be real – there’s never a wrong time to wear ankle boots. But this style was absolutely made for the fall.
We’ve seen Meghan dress them up with a dress and dark tights, and dress them down with jeans and a sweater. You’ll want several colors, because these boots will be a staple in your fall wardrobe.
Fedora Hat
Once you see how sophisticated you look in a wide-brimmed fedora, you’ll start inventing occasions to wear it as much as possible. The wool fabric will keep your head warm, while the wide, floppy brim ensures you don’t look like you stole the hat from a genuine cowboy.
Love the choices of the wrap coats, beautiful. The silk shirts and cardigans are going to be a must have!
Hi Meghan’s Mirror! I love the grey sweater Meghan is wearing in the photo at the start of this article, but I can’t seem to find them on your site…could you point me in the right direction? I’m not very tech savvy…thanks for your help and keep up the great work!
PS-any news yet on where Meghan’s gorgeous red v-neck sweater is from…the one she is wearing today at the gender equality event?
