When Meghan Markle stepped onto the polo field in a navy blue wrap dress, jaws dropped. When we saw that the dress was made of denim, the fashion news headlines practically wrote themselves. “Meghan Markle is bringing back the denim dress“! While denim never went out of style, this should definitely show us a resurgence in the fabric choice for dresses!
Meghan’s dress is extremely elegant, with a vintage-inspired silhouette that could be from 1958 or 2018. The ultra-feminine cut is balanced out by the more casual denim fabric. The piece, from Carolina Herrera’s Resort 2019 collection, remains dressy and formal, so we took a look at similar styles that would be more suitable for our non-royal lives. Hey, we don’t all go to polo matches, okay?

This post is gushy, even for Meghan’s Mirror! The dress is lovely, suits Meghan very well, and is appropriate for the occasion (with different shoes, as was pointed out many times on the previous post). Definitely inspires one to wear dresses for more casual occasions. But since you were able to find so many “mirrors”, I don’t think it’s right to say Meghan “is bringing back” the denim dress 🙂

Replacing this dress with a sleeveless denim version would completely miss the mark.

Wow. This is some definite attitude from people who didn’t bother looking up other options, or even what the original dress what made of. The original is denim, and it shouldn’t be surprising that some of the high-end details (perfectly fitted curved shoulder cap sleeves) are hard to find in a low-priced dupe. Thank you to Meghan’s Mirror for taking the time to search things out.

It’s denim for goodness sake. It’s never gone out of style. It is good to see dresses that are nice enough to wear to a casual event. Megan’s dress has a lovely cut & the dark blue spells “new”. It will have to be ironed & maybe starched to keep it from becoming a wrinkled mess. Good for her to have the courage to wear it.
