Meghan and Harry joined their family for a very royal anniversary celebration. Prince Charles celebrated his 50th anniversary since his investiture as the Prince of Wales.
The celebration, which took place at Buckingham Palace, hosted the members of the royal family, representatives from Prince Charles’ welsh patronages, and even the Archbishop of Canterbury – who gave a speech to mark the occasion.
Meghan’s look was neutral elegance, pairing nicely with the backdrop of the palace. Meghan wore a bespoke brocade dress in a maternity style, featuring a neutral gold and champagne floral pattern. She topped the outfit with her Amanda Wakeley coat, which she has worn a few times this pregnancy – it is proving to be a closet staple for her! We saw her Birks bar earrings – a pre-Duchess day favorite – and her Paul Andrew pumps again today.
Coat: Amanda Wakeley
Heels: Paul Andrew Pump-It-Up Pumps
Ring: Moonstone ring, TBC
Earrings: Birks Bar Earrings
Dress: Brocade Maternity Dress
Purse: Wilbur and Gussie Oyster Clutch
Love Meghan’s look today? We asked the team to come up with some of their favourite #MirrorMeg options:
What did you think of Meghan’s look for the Prince of Wales’ investiture 50th anniversary?

Love this beautiful golden look on Duchess Meghan! The colors and brocade floral print of the dress look beautiful with the Amanda Wakeley coat. As we all know by now, nudes, creams, blushes and gold all look fantastic on her skin tone, and this ensemble proves it yet again.
The cut and fit of the dress looks perfect and she still looks very comfortable. The pulled back chignon and makeup are the perfect finishing touches to this look. Another one of my favorite pregnancy looks from her. 🙂
OG SG says
This is a great look! It fits her bump and is a more surprising and interesting take on her usual neutrals. But holy crow I hate those shoes. A pair of subtle gold pumps would have been so much better. I just want to burn all the nude shoes with fire (including the ones Kate is wearing as well, ugh).
Pam says
I agree. I like the dress and coat but the shoes are way off–really subtle gold or even an ivory would look better.
Deborah A. Lorenzen says
Yes, the fabric is a little “upholstery” looking; maybe a too heavy for a dress since there is not much movement because of the weight of the fabric. Perhaps a coat in the fabric and a solid dress? The shades of cream and yellow are pretty though. But the dress is a no for me. Harry is looking sharp in his blue suit! Nice crease in the trousers H!
Lauri says
Oh a coat is this lovely brocade would be stunning!!
Barbara Abraham says
Meghan is beautiful. That’s it and that’s all. Wishing all the best to the entire Royal Family as I’m a true Royalist.
Savi says
Why do you have to compare her dress to a Sofa? Come on!!!! This just invites hate.
Julie says
I like this dress, but I thought Deborah’s was an honest opinion, respectfully expressed.
Deborah A. Lorenzen says
thank you, Julie, I loved the shades of cream and yellow. I did not compare her dress to a sofa but the fabric! It appears sometimes one cannot separate observation from a “hateful” comment. One poster actually said they “hated” her shoes! That doesn’t really bother me, it’s her opinion! We are “observing” and commenting on fashion: shoes, dresses, and hairstyles!
OG SG says
I actually think the fabric is sofa-esque and still like it. Brocade in general DOES look like upholstery. I think for me what saves it is the fact that it short enough so the heavy fabric is not overwhelming, and the coat helps lighten it up as well. It is actually one of my favorite looks of her pregnancy.
Julie says
This is a very nice, elegant look, but I must say the amount of bespoke clothing we’ve seen has been excessive for me, especially lately. There aren’t really that many opportunities to wear maternity clothes after all, even if one is a duchess.
Stacey says
I agree, that’s why I totally love the fact that Meghan only until recently has started to wear more maternity outfits. Most of her outfits during her pregnancy can be used post baby, so I think, that was her thinking. Although, there were many comments about her clothing not fitting a pregnant body as well as it should.
My humble opinion. Well done DoS.
Ava Pittman says
The Duchess looks beautiful and very elegant. The dress fits her well and colour suits her.
Susan Richardson Brazel says
Very regal, thank goodness she has tights on, a must on some occasions .
Lauri says
If ever there was a time and place to wear a brocade dress, a reception at Buckingham Palace honoring your father-in-law is it!!! I simply love the colors of this dress, the golds, the silvers and the lovely cream backdrop to die for! And I really like the contrast of the coat, which I wonder if it’s really white or more of soft cream, I really can’t tell in most of the photos.
Thanks MM for such a lovely post!!
Dee S says
She looks absolutely beautiful, regal and stunning! EVERYTHING about this outfit fits, is appropriate for the occasion and just plain works. I do not understand the need to constantly pick apart almost every outfit. I can understand if something doesn’t suit your tastes from time to time, but ALMOST EVERY POST there has to be a negative comment? It is really sad that the vitriolic spirit that is so prevalent on social media these days seems to have slipped onto sites that should be a nice, enjoyable and fun escape haven. Sadly it seems not to be the case.
Jordan says
Absolutely agree. There are a few commenters here who consistently have negative things to say for every appearance. So tiresome.
Mannysan8 says
PREACH!
May says
Yes sadly I’ve noticed a trend on the comments of some posters (actually one) here. Literally every single comment has a dig, sarcastic or negative comments about Meghan (hair, clothes, shoes, manners). If someone clearly doesn’t enjoy Meghan, why follow a blog dedicated to her? It doesn’t make any sense to me.
Anyway, I really like Meghan’s dress and love that she’s been repeating so many of her pieces already. She’s really building a very versatile royal wardrobe that can easily be mixed and matched. I can’t wait for her to rewear this dress again, altered of course to fit her non-pregnant body, and styled differently.
OG SG says
I like Meghan a lot and she is more my type than anyone else in the Royal Family (mainly being a motivated worker and outspoken feminist). But this is a fashion blog to talk about her clothes. And no matter how much I like Meghan, I will hate a boring nude pump EVERY SINGLE TIME no matter who wears it. And long for a gold pump instead. It is not a personal insult to her whether I take exception to something that she is wearing because it is not to my taste. Generally I like her style but this IS a place to discuss it and I find discussions that are limited to “I LOVE EVERYTHING SHE EVER WEARS” to be extremely boring.
Lisa says
I agree. It would be boring to a blog where everyone has the same opinion – disliking something is not synonymous with negativity. I think the key thing is to be respectful.
Mey says
I think there is a difference between someone disliking every single thing Meghan wears, how her hair looks, makeup, manners (too much pda, bump touching), and someone who occasionally doesn’t like what she wears. I don’t like everything she wears and sometimes I only like one thing she’s wearing (like her bag). I noticed a certain poster here (and I looked back at nearly all the posts of Meghan’s engagement), have only negative things to say about her. Literally every single comment (from that poster) is either sarcastic, making a dig at her, or just plain negative. I’m not talking about you OG or Lisa, I agree that not everything Meghan wears will please everyone and ppl should be able to discuss it here. My point is for those people who clearly have nothing good or nice to say at all about Meghan should maybe stop following a blog dedicated to her.
OG SG says
Ah, OK. Yeah, I definitely don’t think personal attacks or haters are warranted. I just like having a rousing discussion about fashion where I can continue to air my grievances against the nude pumps of the world 🙂
Shersha says
Thankfully Dee there are efforts underway to put a stop to abusive online behaviours. Kensington Palace has now officially released guidelines that will apply to anyone using their social media sites. They will not tolerate any negative, hateful, or abusive comments towards any member of the Royal Family and will engage the necessary law enforcement as appropriate. Hello Magazine also started a #Hellotokindness campaign which the editors of Meghan’s Mirror shared on an earlier post. There is much more work to be done but again, thankfully conversations have begun and policies and guidelines around interacting on social media are being implemented to hopefully put an end to the abuse.
Deborah A. Lorenzen says
Commenting that you don’t like her shoes can hardly be interpreted as a hateful or abusive comment! I believe that I was one of the few posters that did not comment on her shoes! I counted at least 7 posters that disliked her shoes! I happen to like nude pumps! I was kind of sad when a few years back they were flagged as a fashion don’t! :>( I follow “What Kate Wore” and the posters on Kate’s site tend to be a tad more adamant in their comments that this site’s posters. Thou doth protest too much!
Shersha says
Deborah, it is actually you that doth protest too much. I completely agree with the other commentators that there will be from time to time outfits that the Duchess wears that will not be to your individual liking. That is perfectly normal. There will also be those that do like each and every outfit. That is also normal for each individual is different and fashion tastes are not the same. As long as the comments are made in a respectful way that is the key. Deborah, the issue here is that on each and every single post over the course of several months, you have exhibited a consistent, systematic, organized pattern of making sarcastic, negative comments against the Duchess. That is not healthy behaviour. Again, perhaps you may want to ponder this question: If you do not like the Duchess, do not find that any of her fashion choices are to your liking and you do not respect her personal lifestyle choices, is it a healthy decision for you to continue to follow her?
Dee S says
Shersha, it is about time that some in social media started to take some kind of action. Me, personally, they are a little bit late to the party, but at least they arrived. I, also, do not like everything that Meghan wears, and am even a bit horrified by some of her choices or how her clothes seem to fit. Healthy venting of differing opinions and viewpoints are NOT what I was referring to. In fact, I kind of found it amusing…I even chuckled out loud… about one posters, obvious, hatred for nude shoes…even though I LOVE them. As the other posters pointed out, it is the posting of a PATTERN of negative comments. I have left numerous groups and blogs in the past because of posters, who claimed to be fans, seemed to only be in the groups just to constantly chip away at the positive atmosphere with a slow input of negative comments. Call it gaslighting, back-handed compliments, whatever…we all recognize the behavior when we see it. And the fact that I am not the only one who has noticed it is evidence that there is an issue.
Shersha says
The Duchess looks beautiful. There is such a calm and peace that radiates from her. I love this gorgeous brocade dress and own a coat dress in similar fabric and print. The cut and style of the dress fits beautifully over her pregnant stomach and the white Amanda Wakeley coat is the perfect finishing touch. I like the neutral coloured shoes paired with the dress but could also see how a more golden toned pair would look lovely as well. Either the way, the entire ensemble is regal, elegant and another one of my favourite outfits that she has worn. Hair and makeup as always, perfect.
lawmom says
Brocade is very royal, and I like that the coat tones it back down from !!**!!BROCADE!!**!! to “brocade.” I’m thrilled she’s wearing something that fits her bump and it appears she’s found pantyhose that are close to her skin tone. The shoes would be better in leather and a lighter color. I don’t think metallic shoes for a daytime event would be appropriate – too evening-y. The bronze clutch looks good with this outfit IMHO.

This Calvin Klein dress is an inexpensive similar look.

This is one of my top 3 pregnancy looks for her! It’s stunning, sophisticated and tailored perfectly. And cream is my absolute favorite color on her. I’m in awe of her being so late in her pregnancy and looking so great! Especially with all the international travel as of late. And Harry looks especially dapper today as well! Love the Sussexes! 🙂
Lisa says
Thought the DoS looked cute today. Surprised (and happy) that we haven’t seen a messy bun in a while.
Susie Q says
Love, love, love the dress! I like her coat, but wish it fit her better in the sleeves. They just seen too long which always feels “off the rack” to me. Her updo was pretty, just wish it had been more sleek without pieces falling out. The messy bun looks great with her modern, tailored clothes, but given the occasion and the fabric of her dress it would’ve had a more polished look with her sleek updo’s she’s more before. I was thinking that her gold Dior shoes would’ve looked amazing with this gorgeous brocade dress! Love her silk clutch! Meghan is always so elegant and beaming with love and pride that in the end what she wears is always second place to her beautiful face and kind heart! Can’t wait to see baby susssex! (Crossing my fingers it’s a girl and they name her Diana)

MM is there still no ID on the dress? Interesting that there is no info on the designers of the dressss that both Duchesses wore!
