Today marked a historic first – Meghan’s first appearance as an official member of the Royal Family. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Meghan and Harry, attended a Garden Party in the gardens of Buckingham Palace which were held to celebrate the Prince of Wales’ 70th Birthday and his work during that time for his patronages and military work.
Meghan and Harry joined Harry’s father, the Prince of Wales and his wife, the Duchess of Cornwall, at the event. There certainly were many laughs and smiles shared across the event.

As we have always said, Meghan is a fan of “polished imperfection”, and this dress’s frayed edge seams allowed her to still stay true to who she was when adjusting to who she will be as the Duchess of Sussex. It was her first foray – and a big one at that at Buckingham Palace – and we loved that she still stayed true to certain of her previous style elements while trying to figure out this whole Duchess thing. (Oh, and for the record? We’re not fans of the pantyhose either)
Love Meghan’s look today? We asked the team to come up with some of their favourite #MirrorMeg options:
What did you think of Meghan’s look for her first Garden Party?
** Please note that this is a draft of the post which will be finalized as more pictures & details are available. Stay tuned! **
MrsBee says
Great look, although another case of an ill fit. Seems a little loose around the bodice/waist. Also, not a fan of the tights.
Deborah Lorenzen says
Agree dress is ill fitting. I don’t get it…her stylist needs to step up. Alterations are key. Also too beige!
Katia says
My guess is that she may have lost some weight the week leading the wedding, I would say family stress-related …
Patricia says
This makes a lot of sense!
MrsBee says
I think so too. Same with the bridal dress. She’s usually spot on.
Deborah Lorenzen says
I’m sure she has a royal seamstress on call that can alter her clothes in the wink of an eye! But this style of dress is an odd fit with the sheer sleeves and the neckline…she’s looked better in her dresses in the past weeks. She looked great on Friday last .
admin says
The tights aren’t our thing either, but it’s definitely a royal “tradition” that they are worn at certain events… Especially high profile ones like these at BP!
xo
Mary Szabo says
The look is frumpy. Was this intentional of those in charge to play her down?
Bertie says
Wow — a real royal lady! And with her first flying saucer hat, Duchess Meghan has definitely arrived. I love the dress, it perfectly solves the problem of doing posh royal while still remaining Meghan, with those touches of frayed edges and the sheer top. Love that clutch, can’t recall when we saw it before, but it’s so pretty and the pale hose are very princessy.
It looks like we are starting out with a great secure updo, I do hope so, it was bitter disappointment to me to see her wedding hairdresser admit the updo for Saturday was a loose one. I disagree that was a good day for loose ends to start poking out, but then I bet I’m just out of sync!
Lauri says
Lol, “flying saucer hat”, the royals have landed, the royals have landed!! Lol
I don’ t think you’re out of sync Bertie, just different thoughts and expectations. I thought her hair could have looked a bit better but I wasn’t terribly disappointed (I thought it was too flat in the front). I think Meghan was trying to stay calm that day, given all that had transpired earlier in the week, and maybe found a familiar hair style comforting.
admin says
Flying saucer hat! Bertie! LOL
I think we’re really just seeing Meghan Markle figure out what HRH Meghan’s style is. She stayed pretty true to her own style (think the frayed seams on the dress, the neutral tones) while also “embracing” elements of royal life, like the hat for the party or the tights. Meghan never went to Garden Parties at BP in her previous life, so she’s got to figure out what that looks like for her. We just hope that she can stay more casual and chic in the less formal engagements. But at the formal ones? I think we’ll see more of this style.
In any event, it’s fun to hear everyone’s different thoughts!!
xo
Madison Mile says
Oh lala! HRH did not dissapoint. I love the color of the dress, which really complements her skin tone. The hat is so elegant and love how well it coordinates with the dress.. The clutch is the perfect bag for this ensemble and it’s nice to see she recycles her fashion even as a Duchess 🙂
The makeup is beautiful yet natural as usual and the low bun perfectly placed with the hat.
I know some don’t favor when she wears tights, but it’s my understanding that at certain Official Royal events the Queen insists that the Duchess’ wear them. Can anyone confirm this?
admin says
Meghan certainly is a fan of neutrals, and we like how she kept up that part of her style in her first Duchess of Sussex look!
As for the tights, it’s not technically a “rule” in a book anywhere (any books we know of, anyway) but it’s widely speculated that for certain more formal events it’s tradition to wear them.
xo
Bertie says
It remains puzzling to me how folk on your side of the pond get so worked up about tights. They are standard here and the protests can look a bit quaint to us. We have a different climate and there are more chilly draughts than in large parts of the US, tights are worn because the we never know when the ever-changing weather is going to spring an unpleasant surprise on us.
And I don’t see why Meghan shouldn’t wear the tights to match her dress. In fact I find them quite subversive precisely because of the mis-match claimed by many of pale skin. At one and the same time Meghan is able to send up the only-whites-wear-pale-tights thing plus add a funky note to a properly demure outfit. I say properly because I’m at a loss to know how she could have done anything else so early in the relationship with her on-laws. But I like the quiet subversion from those tights: You say I can’t wear these? Well, just watch me!!
admin says
Hi Bertie,
Another case of great differences across the pond!
And for the record, we encourage the feedback on what people did and didn’t like about her looks and think everyone can have an opinion about it, and we welcome the good and the bad as long as it’s done respectfully by everyone – which has never been an issue before and that we hope continues to allow such great discussion.

SY says
Gorgeous, she was dressed appropriately for the occasion. The color, the dress, the hat equal perfection! I hope that she is able to keep her old style for less formal events..
Gabriela Hubbard says
NOOOOOOOOO! What is happening here? Royal protocol be damned. From the heavy make-up, to the thick hose, to the run-of-the-mill hat, to the matchy-matchy clutch, to the tightly wound bun, this is a fashion and Meghan misstep of epic proportions. If ever, you wanted to convince someone that The Firm was going to swallow, squash and spit out some sanitized, watered down version of what they view as palatable, well here is your proof. She looks like a Stepford royal. How did we get from Saturday’s fresh, modern, glowing and elegant looks to this matronly uninspired washed out, yet covered up version. Utterly disappointing in so many ways, here’s hoping it’s a one off mistake due to lack of sleep and preparation and that the real Meghan comes back soon.
The OG SG says
Word. This is boring and awful. I cannot believe how people are praising it. She looks like oatmeal. The hat is the only thing that displays the slightest bit of personality. I hope this is a one off and she isn’t adopting Kate’s matronly Stepford looks. Ugh.
Lauri says
Calm down dear, lol, this is Meghan’s first event as an HRH and it’s a biggie, Buck Palace, 6,000 people honoring her new FIL! I say let’s give her a bit of time to work out how to honor her new family, protocol and traditions while maintaining her own sense of self. I’m sure she will do just fine. I do think a different color of nylons would have made them a bit less noticable, these are just too pale.
Gabriela Hubbard says
I don’t really think it’s necessary to tell me to “calm down, dear,” I come to this blog for fashion and the latest on M. Markle, if you disagree with my opinions on her style, perhaps you could find a way to do so that isn’t patronizing or condescending. lol.
Leslie says
Good luck Gabriela! Lauri and Bertie are the co-presidents of the Duchess of Sussex Fan Club so they have difficulty when others are critical. I agree that a blog is a place for opinions.
Gabriela Hubbard says
Why thank you Leslie, but I do believe, by virtue of us all posting on the site, that we are all team Meghan. I absolutely adore her style, which is why, I was disappointed by the about face-quite literally- with the heavy foundation/contouring/semi-glam look of today and the B flat outfit. I’m hoping they pop off to Namibia or wherever quickly (!) and we are back to the elegant, fresh faced, Meghan with her fashion forward approach. Lastly, in general, I do think, telling some one to calm down, and calling a stranger by an endearment, usually will not result in them calming down, nor will they find it endearing.
Leslie says
Yes indeed, we are fans. Thanks for making me laugh, Gabriela
Lauri says
Dear Gabriela, I did not mean to offend you which is why I wrote “lol” after “calm down dear”. I hoped you would see it in the light hearted way in which it was meant. I apologize for any misunderstanding. Lauri
SallyG says
Meghan is now at work, she works for The Monarchy,a.k.a The Firm. As with many corporate companies here in the UK there is a dress code (uniform) which has to be adhered to without exception. We are more used to this as we have had to wear school uniform. John Lewis department store for example, insists that their female staff wear tights if wearing a dress or skirt. It is part of the uniform. So from now on expect to see Meghan wearing tights more often, especially for formal events. It is just how it is.
Gabriela Hubbard says
And there are stocking and there are stockings. A pair of Wolford nude sheer stockings which she certainly can afford, can provide her with a polished look and meet protocol requirements rather than these thick hose that do nothing for her complexion and date this outfit.
admin says
Agreed, Gabriela! Not a fan of the stockings today either, even if it is part of the royal protocol, she’ll need to find a new pair that works better.. Camilla is a great example of someone who has mastered the stockings look in our opinion, with several people saying “is she, or isn’t she” when it comes to them. That is the ultimate goal with nude tights, we think!
xo
Gabriela Hubbard says
Wolford’s Naked 8s’ should be on her stylist’s list immediately. In bulk. 🙂
SSM says
Yessss! I hope she sees these photos and goes looking for a pair of matte, nude tights that let her gorgeous legs keep their natural look. These ones are giving me terrible Mother of the Bride at a 1992 church wedding vibes.
LOVE the hat, it’s absolutely the sort I’d go with myself as an American who is fond of neutrals. I’m meh about the dress, but it’s definitely in keeping with the way other Royal women dress and maybe she wanted to make a point that she can do the Duchess thing as well as (or better than) anyone, despite what so many have said over the past eight months. And she did make that point.
The OG SG says
I am a lawyer. I am familiar with having to dress a “certain” way for court. But there are still different ways to dress within those parameters. Dressing appropriately does not mean “wear an ugly beige sack”. There are plenty of royals who wear appropriate clothing that is still stylish/fashionable/not the color of oatmeal. Crown Princess Mary of Denmark, for one…and she’s actually married to the heir.
On the Daily Mail, one of the members of the choir who performed at the wedding was present and wearing a lovely white eyelet dress. I would have liked to have seen something like that rather than this stuffy, bleh look.
Gabriela Hubbard says
Queen Letizia slays as well on the regular as well. And as a fashion junkie who also considers herself woke and ergo a fan of HRH MM, it is a bit disconcerting to see this look debuted right after the wedding. While it’s probably just a clumsy or new make-up artist and an innocent mistake regarding her hose, a more suspicious or paranoid soul might actually wonder if this get-up reflects a real or subconscious desire of the house of Windsor to literally whitewash Meghan:pin down that unruly hair, tame the flyaways, cake on concealer and foundation, remove any ounce of sex appeal from her with that shapeless shift with it’s noticeable weights in the hem and place her in thick hose shades lighter than her own, a generic tennis bracelet rounding out the non-threatening look. No more quirky, slender stacked rings, delicate pieces of jewelry, just diamonds as befitting a married woman over 30. Innocent or calculated, the look for me, is as I said earlier, utterly disappointing.
The OG SG says
Yeah, given the historical and cultural issues attached to the hair of women of color and them being forced to straighten, flatten, etc. their natural hair to fit into “white culture,” the fact that Megan’s hair is now completely subdued makes you wonder.
Deborah Lorenzen says
Gabriela you said it so well, I am disappointed that her natural beauty and ethnicity is being squashed. Your whitewashed comment is so true. Maybe this outfit was Meghan’s choice as an attempt to fit in with all the other Royals, but this look removes all the individuality that makes her so uniquely Meghan . Meghan is who she is…she hasn’t tried to hide her biracial heritage in the past; I hope this isn’t the beginning of her style de-evolution.
Adriana says
Word, this the Firm’s work uniform. This and variations of it and she, as per usual, played the game exceptionally well. She looked gorgeous, like a fine porcelain doll, graceful and elegant. I must add that she has lost too much weight, in my opinion. Perhaps in prep to getting pregnant, perhaps just the sheer stress he has been under. I do also agree that going with skin/nude hose would have worked better. Question, being in the USA, I am curious to know why you call them tights over there ?
admin says
Hi All –
The one thing this look definitely did was inspire up opinions! Many people love how it look/played the part of “Duchess” very well, while others hated that it wasn’t Meghan enough.
The one thing we love about fashion is that it’s so open to interpretation – and everyone can have a say! Especially here. There will be many times we don’t all agree and that actually makes it, in our opinion, way more interesting to hear all the different points of view!
xo
Bertie says
I love the discussion here and all the different opinions, it makes this a great page!
Katinka says
Agree completely, I really hope she doesn’t start taking style cues from any female members of the royal family. Although hats, tights etc are probably required in certain circumstances I really hope those events are few and far between. The “too tidy” bun didn’t help, she looked like a royal clone, albeit a lovely one.
Deborah Lorenzen says
Oh my thoughts exactly Gabriela and per my previous post, I agree with your comments, there is not one lovely about this look except for the Duchess’s smile. The blush color is all wrong for her skin tone, the dress doesn’t fit her, the hat is boring and the those whitish tights! Oh dear! I think they ( whomever “they” may be) attempted to match the tights to her dress and not her skin tone. Fail! I love this post because we are able to voice our opinions. Everything she wears cannot be perfect which is fine with me: I can agree that hopefully she will loosen up a bit. I hate to invoke the “K” word but Kate wears her hair down and loose with hats as she did for the wedding and she looks great. Meghan has to work on the hat thingy. Her best hat, in my opinion was the white beret. She should have borrowed Doria’s little topper from the wedding
Lawmom says
I’m with you 100%. It looks to me like she went through the generic royal machine and got spit out the other end wearing …. this. It was an interesting scrolling outfit – hat, great … scroll … dress, meh … scroll … pantyhose, oh dear no … shoes, meh. With everything going on the past weeks, and this being her first event as a HRH coming so soon after the wedding, I hope it’s a result of ‘play it safe’ and not ‘this is my new style in my new role.’ Girlfriend needs a pantyhose consult, STAT.
Mary Szabo says
I agree. The look is frumpy. Was this intentional of those in charge to play her down?
Lauri says
I really like this dress and this hat-is to die for! I was so interested to see what Meghan would wear today, her first event as an HRH, at Buckingham Palace, for the Prince of Wales, attended by 6,000 people (gosh I’m getting nervous just thinking about it)! I think this dress and hat are completely appropriate for this event and I can see re-wearing this dress but without the nylons and with a more interesting shoe.
I thought it was interesting that she seems to be copying a few of Kate’s mannerisms, feet pressed firmly together and the clutch held in front of the body (which I have to say is my least favorite mannerisms of Kate’s) but I think over time and at different events we will continue to see “Meghan”, today she is the “Duchess” and that is completely appropriate.
I must have these earrings, I must, I must!!! Meghan’s been wearing quite a bit of new diamond jewelry lately and I’m dying to know who is gifting them, friends, family, Harry, Charles? I do wish KP would tell us!
Bertie says
That hat has to be the least-ornamented headpiece I can recall seeing on a royal. And what an alien environment for a young American — these people are for real? They stand around on grass lawns and eat sandwiches?? I thought Meghan looked a little non-plussed at the start! But she handled it like a pro.
Deborah Lorenzen says
Really an alien environment? Let’s not forget she has been living in UK since what…last November? Plus Meghan is no babe in the woods, she’s a 36 year old woman who has lived in Toronto for the past 9 years.
Bertie says
And not once in any of that time or before has Meghan been to a 6,000 strong formal garden party at the UK’s most premier address. I rest my case.
Lauri says
I was thinking roughly the same thing while watching Doria at the wedding, how surreal this must all be. So many traditions and protocols to remember and observe, it makes my head spin. There will be a few bumps in the road for the new Duchess but that’s how we all learn and grow.
Deborah Lorenzen says
Wow, Meghan is in full Duchess mode with this look! From the pale tights to the slick bun, her style has taken a full 360 since last Friday when she wore the fun navy frock along side her Mom. Has anyone noticed the heavier foundation and groomed penciled eyebrows? Her wedding day makeup seemed more natural. So love the earrings! I hope the Duchess is able to retain a little of her previous style.
AnnaP says
Can’t stand all the criticism. She looks perfect. She is still true to her style. She looks nothing like Kate. She looks chic and exquisite and beautiful and appropriate. I love all of it: the hat, dress, tights, bag, shoes. I really cannot fault this amazing look.
And it fits perfectly too. I really don’t know what some expect – for her to have no ability to move because an outfit is so tight. It fits perfectly! Just like her wedding dresses did too!
Amy Bee says
I love the outfit. It’s true to her style and very elegant. I think she did a good job for a first engagement as a royal. Regarding the panty-hose, I’m not sure that she is wearing them. Some pictures I’ve seen, her legs are bare.
admin says
Hi Amy,
She’s definitely wearing them – although the light makes it look different in different shots. Great point though that maybe the glare in one photo isn’t the true colour of the stockings themselves!
Thanks for the great comment.
xo
Amy Bee says
Thanks for responding. I think you are on to something regarding the lighting but I think it sometimes gives her appearance of wearing panty-hose. If you check the timeline of the daily mirror’s Derek Momodu @DelMody, he posted two pictures taken by ian volger in which her legs look bare.
KJ says
I absolutely loved it. The lines of the dress, shoes and hat were true to her style. With respect to the hose, it is important that Meghan acts respectfully as well as forge her own path. It is going to take savvy to do that well. I am a European myself, and, generally speaking, we love the Royals AND respect them. I think this element can be a little bit difficult to fully understand if you are not used to it. I have no doubt she will be a trail blazer in the best sense possible.
admin says
Hi KJ, Thanks for sharing! Love the feedback and hearing your point of view.
xo
Val Cornner says
I really think Meghan is a beautiful woman. I truly do, and I think it is great to have opinions. Some people take that as criticism, which I don’t think they are criticisms, but they are just opinions. Some people like one look; some like another look. I think that is OK. So far, none of the opinions here have been mean-spirited.
With that said, I do think that Meghan is no longer the carefree style maven we saw up through Saturday. She is royalty now. I believe there will be a different look that we are going to see from Meghan going forward with input from the Palace. I think there will be instances of where she may have some quirkiness in her wardrobe, but I do believe she will become more and more conservative in dress and toe the Palace line.
I do look forward to seeing those splashes of Meghan.
Cheers!
admin says
Thanks for the great comment, Val! Absolutely great to hear all the options, as everyone is entitled to them. As long as everyone is respecting each other, we love the debate!

Preach Val.
Lauri says
I can’t wait to see how, in the years to come, Meghan incorporates her own style sense into royal fashion.
Lauri says
Sorry about the duplicate post, having phone issues ?
Deborah Lorenzen says
Yes Lauri, hopefully Meghan will be allowed to put her own stamp on her “Royal” style. Her entire look on this day was such a departure from what we saw in the past! Except for the floppy lapel coats I loved her post-Duchess look. It was almost shocking to see her debut this head to toe mono blush getup! I guess only time will tell. But if she’s donating her old clothes, I’m a size 2 ! They might need to come up a few inches in length but no worries! Wink, wink.
Lauri says
I can’t wait to see how, in the years to come, Meghan incorporates her own style sense into royal fashion. I wonder if we’ll see more of “Meghan “ when she’s attending engagements with Harry or by herself and more of the “Duchess “ when she’s attending royal family events?
Susan says
Love the website. Wish it was more user friendly. The look details remains tedious for me. A friend recommended another blog about Meghan’s fashions. But I still here.
admin says
Hi Susan,
We’d love to hear your feedback on how we can make your experience more positive at Meghan’s Mirror! Please feel free to let us know via return comment or by e-mailing info@meghansmirror.com
xo
Susan says
This is the first website I visited regarding Meghan’s fashion so I come here for the look details. I have mention before that the look details should list the price of the items. The answer I was given was that prices fluctuates that’s why they are not listed. Other websites I visited recently list the prices of the clothes and accessories the day of the event. If the prices change when someone tries to buy it. It doesn’t change the fact the item cost $$$ the day the look details were posted. It’s tiresome to have click 2-3 links to find out how much the Tamara Mellon pumps cost.
KateinCanada says
Great dress (though it did seems a bit baggy, but maybe due to wedding weight loss as some have theorized), love the hat, the jewelry, the hair, the bag and shoes.
Did not like the tights. I get that for some official events tights might be required, however, ones that match her skin tone and more matte would have been better. These were just too shiny pale.
Hoping we see her stay comfortable in her own style, and this isn’t the start of confirming too much.
Dot says
I liked her dress, the stockings looked different in different photos so hard to have an opinion. I think Meghan will be conservative when she is attending events like this and more herself when it is just Prince Harry and her. She is being respectful to her in laws and the Royals. And maybe this WAS fun to dress up today and be a duchess.
Tammy says
I loved this look! Being a Duchess suits Meghan! I believe she knows what is expected of her and she does it with ease! This first official engagement was to honor Prince Charles so I think it was appropriate for her to dress a little more reserved. Everyone else I noticed in the crowd had hose on also, even thou we don’t wear them here as much, they still must be pretty popular there.
I believe she still stayed true to her style just dressed for this occasion.
Iris says
Hi everyone!!
I loved this look from the waist up!! The monochrome look is actually very traditional Meghan, and I feel that a pale pink for a garden party is so feminine and appropriate. I think Meghan is feeling incredibly grateful to the Royal Family for embracing her and supporting her (when even her own family couldn’t pull it together) and allowing her to plan her dream wedding, that she plans on easing into her role as Duchess of Sussex by respecting some of their traditions. The tights are just awful, but I love the hat and sleeves! I agree with other posters that Meghan seems to have lost a significant amount of weight, so I hope she either fills out a little more or her stylist tailors her clothes to fit her new frame! I believe that Meghan will teeter back an forth the first trying to find her footing, but I truly believe Meghan will ultimately be true to herself and we’ll see that edgy fashion from her that we love!
Elizabeth says
I’m not a personal fan of pantyhose during the warmer months but they do give a more polished look. However, I have to say that as a woman of color, who is of a similar complexion to Meghan, nude pantyhose don’t work. She needs to find a pantyhose shade that is similar to her skin tone, and I can tell you from experience that is not easy.
margo says
I love MM styles but my heart just sunk when I saw her yesterday. Gone is the messy bun which has been replaced by a Nurse Betty tights. She has been stripped of her unique and wonderful style and is now an official member of the firm. Let’s hope it’s a one off .
Cass says
I love this beautiful look, very polished, conservative, Royal. I disagree that the dress is illfitted – I think she is just not wearing sexy, skin tight outfits anymore – nothing to raise eyebrows. She’ll play it safe with looser clothes and cover up.
The tennis bracelet – it just looked like a silver chain to me at first. The diamonds are tiny, I like that she’s been wearing understated jewelry and not big flashy pieces.
Jessica says
I’m an outlier here, but I think this look is a big improvement. She finally looks like a royal. My guess is that she now has a Windsor House stylist/lady-in-waiting that is going to make sure she follows the rules and fits in.
Agreed about the fit of the dress (poor) and that it’s attributable to recent weight loss.
Bertie says
Given she voluntarily chose to marry a royal there’s just a chance that Meghan is more than happy to embrace a royal wardrobe. . I wonder if we are about to see her inner royal step out of its shell; not having to dress in order effectively to sell herself as an actress may be blessėd relief. I would have thought that anyone who doesn’t like royal style might best be advised to avoid royal fan pages. But Meghan is a royal now and clearly willing to step out as one, more power to her.
Jessica says
You’re right that the “upgrade”/change could be self-imposed rather than other-advised. I’m a big fan of Kate’s look and tend toward the traditional in general. I’ll be curious to see how Meghan’s style evolves.
Bertie says
Thanks Jessica. I’m a big fan of Kate as well and I think she suffers from criticism which comes from sheer over-exposure. There are so many pictures pouring out every time she steps out and such hypercriticism applied to her outfits that they get dismissed as dull when I think they are often far from it! I’d be sorry to see Meghan meet the same fate and like you I will watch her with interest. I thought she had plenty of her own signature in this outfit, the rakish angle of the unadorned hat, the sheer bodice, the frayed edges, and the plastic inserts in her shoes. But having seen so much of her of late these things are may be less appreciated now.
Gabriela Hubbard says
And it could be as simple as she simply fell in love with a person who happens to have born royal. Her “inner royal” doesn’t necessarily mean that she has to transform from Meghan Markle to Meghan Marple. As mentioned in previous posts there are plenty of royals who have managed to present a modern, fresh approach while maintaining conventional standards. As to warning us naysayers of this last look off this page, which is what I presume you meant in your post; I wasn’t aware that this blog was a royal fan page, but rather a blog devoted to HRH Meghan’s style which would certainly include it’s certain evolution and permutations. Should the admins advise that your advice is indeed, correct, I will then, regretfully, continue to follow MM’s style on other sites in the future.
Bertie says
Seriously, you see my comment as a warning? Calm down, dear lol. I was responding to Jessica’s considered post. You’ve already expressed your views several times here, no one can be in any doubt about them. The warning signs I’m seeing are from your own unprompted enthusiasm for repeating yourself on comments you disagree with. Btw Letizia just did all-over pale pink and baggy in the Caribbean and CP Mary did even more shapeless in a navy tent. Neither were stand-out looks.
admin says
Hi Gabriela,
You are absolutely correct – we are a style blog looking at Meghan’s style which will inevitably morph as Meghan does into her new role. We love the feedback on what people did and didn’t like about her looks and think everyone can have an opinion about it, and we welcome the good and the bad as long as it’s done respectfully by everyone.

And we are back to the “calm down, dear, lol” bon mot, which has already been used, unsuccessfully, I might add, originality is not going to get high marks today I’m afraid. As to my “unprompted enthusiasm”, I didn’t know I needed to wait for for an invitation to respond, I guess I should follow your lead…oh wait, never mind.
Lawmom says
Bertie, I usually enjoy your comments for their observations. I like to read comments about what Meghan wore, whether I agree with them or not, it’s interesting to read others’ opinions. If this site turns into “let’s oh and ah over everything Meghan wears/
does, it will be incredibly boring. If I read one more comment with a condescending opening – “calm down, dear” – I’ll skip it and hope that admin steps up so this site remains a forum for people to exchange opinions, and not a site where those that do not worship everything Meghan wears/ does are at the receiving end of condescension.
admin says
Hi Lawmom,
Couldn’t agree more about the exchange of information – we are ALL ABOUT the discussion that happens in the comments, and love to hear all the differences of opinions on Meghan’s style. Style is such a personal thing that we’d never expect everyone to love everything she wears all the time, but we can expect everyone to be respectful. We’ve never had any issues before and in the effort of trying to keep things as they have been, we put in place a new Comments Policy to try and keep Meghan’s Mirror the forum for the exchange of opinions on all things Meghan’s style 🙂
We will be starting to moderate comments going forward and love to hear your thoughts – keep ’em coming!
Thanks for taking the time to comment!

The bracelet has been identified as the Essential Line Bracelet from Cartier. It’s 18K white gold, set with 61 brilliant-cut diamonds totaling 3.34 carats, and retails for $20,600.00.

Hi Madison,
Thanks for sharing! It’s only been “reported” to have been that bracelet that we have seen… And we’re not entirely convinced. Hi-res photos of the bracelet show a gold clasp which doesn’t exist on the Cartier models we’ve seen.
But… Perhaps you’ve seen something we haven’t? Can you share any more details about the identification confirmation?
Thanks for being a reader and visiting the blog!

First off, I love the blog, it’s my guilty pleasure.
As for the bracelet, I have poured over hi-res photos as well and I agree that the clasp does appear gold in most. However, if you look at the few available photos of the clasp in the sunlight away from her clutch and her dress the clasp loses its gold hue.
Meghan has worn a lot of Cartier in the past week. I believe the bracelet has been identified correctly because of the frequency with which she has worn Cartier previously, the look of the bracelet, the way the bracelet lies, and the look of the clasp itself. Perhaps the bracelet is bespoke to include the mix of metals that we have seen Meghan favor before.
The bracelet Meghan wore during her wedding ceremony is said to be a bespoke version of the Reflection de Cartier bracelet, which is another mark in favor of this bracelet being the Essential Lines bracelet just bespoke. However I could be totally off the mark here.

Nice work if you can get it! And highly appropriate for a Duchess on her wedding day 🙂

I think she looked nice & appropriate for the event. The dress could have used an alteration, I think we all agree on that. Her stylist has her work cut out for her. We all raked her over the coals for wearing a party dress to a church memorial service & the message seems to have been heard. The tights…I think they go with the pale outfit & it’s up to her to decide when to tight & when not to tight. She dressed up & looked good, way to go Meghan.
