Meghan Markle and Prince Harry carried out a series of engagements in Edinburgh today, marking Meghan’s first official trip to Scotland.
The day began at Edinburgh Castle, where they attended the firing of the One O’Clock Gun – and met the official mascot of the The Royal Regiment of Scotland, Shetland pony Cruachan (adorably wearing a matching tartan!)
Following their walkabout, Meghan and Harry visited the Social Bite, a local charity cafe that serves and employs the homeless, and met with the organization’s founder, Josh Littlejohn.
In the evening, Meghan and Harry attended a reception at the Palace of Holyroodhouse, the Queen’s royal residence when she is in Scotland. The event marks the “Scottish Year of Young People,” celebrating the success of local youth.

Love the tartan coat as a nod to Scotland. Maybe not so much another monochromatic pants and sweater combo. Handbag is lovely!

We love the tartan and the handbag, too!

I want those pants but that is out of my budget! LOL

The pearl details are so cute!

Some how I just knew she was going to wear black trousers again today 🙂 Loving the pearl accents on these pants!! But I think they would have looked better if they were a half inch to an inch shorter. The pooling of the hem on the ground just isn’t flattering and almost makes Meghan look shorter.
I love this coat and the Black Watch tartan is a sweet nod to her future FIL, who I believe is Colonel to the Royal Regiment of Scotland.
Sigh, yet another handbag for me to lust over…le sigh…
I’m so happy to see that she’s continued wearing her stacking rings on her right hand. It’s always great to see a royal lady keep her own sense of style and accessories.
Does anyone think she might wear a different outfit for tonight’s reception? I hope so!!
Thanks for the great post MM!!! Hey, did you happen to see the articles about Meghan’s private visits to Grenfell and other charity organizations? It’s wonderful to see her take a very active part in planning her future role.

Totally agree. I love everything she is wearing but the pants dragging on the wet ground looks terrible. She can afford a tailor…so get them hemmed properly. I know it is a trend (and that Victoria Beckham does it all the time) but IMO it is a dumb trend that just ruins the bottom of your pants.

It was sad to see the beautiful pants on the ground! It also makes us wonder if they won’t come out of the closet again now…
SG says
I mean…if she hemmed them, that would get rid of the portion that was probably damaged by dragging on the ground 🙂 Save the pants!

Thanks again MeghansMirror and I agree abount the trousers legs being too long. What a shame. Also. those lovely booties were hidden from view. My only negative is that Meghan must learn to start wearing brighter colours, even in winter, because she needs to be easily identified and always standing out in a crowd. That is why The Queen and other members of The Royal Family wear brighter colours or accessories.
Finally, I worry that Meghan is risking become ill frequently. After shaking hands she runs her fingers to her face and is constantly fidgeting with her hair. As unkind as this sounds, one has to be mindful of catching e.g. a cold etc., from friendly hands, the eyes, nose and mouth making infection very easy. She must overcome this nervous habit and on a windy day, think about hair accessories or different styles and sometimes perhaps wearing a hat, in order to keep her flowing locks under control with not a strand out of place and thoroughly groomed from start to finish. Clearly this advice has not yet been proffered but it’s a learning curve. I hope if Meghan’s Mirror is able to communicate with Meghan, some friendly suggestions could be mentioned to assist her, because trust me, at some point the media will make unfavourable comparisons.
I hope that a separate trust in the name of Harry and Meghan will be created, similar to his father’s The Prince’s Trust, through which charitable apolitical foundation Meghan and Harry will be able to help peoples of the world, like those being helped by #SocialBite, assisting the homeless and downtrodden to get back on their feet in a very real way. Meghan is educated and intelligent with powerful and wealthy contacts so together she and Prince Harry could really make a worldwide impact in addition to carrying out Royal duties on behalf of the Monarch. This is why for me they have the potential to make a monumental difference which neither his father nor brother could match on a global scale. Plus Meghan and Harry seems to act, not out of a sense of duty but because they really want to make a difference. I have always felt that Prince Harry inherited the best qualities of both Charles and Diana: a precious gem with a heart of gold who has now found his perfect match in Meghan Markle a kindred spirit. I just love to see them together and so happy. Ann Widdecombe the former Conservative politician sees Meghan as trouble through her jaundiced lenses, but I see, through crystal clear eyes not mired in bitter twisted scales of ignorance from a wretched past, two wonderful souls risen from the ashes of sad beginnings to a position of privilege, armed with compassion and appreciation, are ready to make their mark on the world for good. Prince Harry and his Princess to be may never be crowned, but they will be the jewels in the Crown. And I know this is hasty, but I can hardly wait to see their offspring too.
Thank you all at Meghan’s Mirror and please keep up the good work.

Hi Lauri,
We did see those articles, such a nice thing to read. It’s almost more impactful – and definitely feels more personal – when private visits are made. We can’t wait to see which important charities she will choose to take on as her own!

Hi Lauri!!
I hope she wears a different outfit for tonight’s reception too!!!

Absolutely LOVE the tartan coat and handbag, I love that her outfits continue to show an appreciation for the locale she is visiting! I’m getting a little tired of the black monochrome outfits, not that she doesn’t look great but I just love variety! The look is very true to Meghan’s style however, so I can’t fault her for staying true to her tastes!! Thanks MM for the quick post!!

Those pants were way too long and they looked ragged already from dragging on the ground not to mention they were soaked! Maybe cropped pants a better option for soggy weather or a skirt. Also second time she wore suede footwear in the rain.
Tecla says
@Deborah, Her pants didn’t look ragged anywhere. Girl bye.
SG says
If you look on pictures on the Daily Mail, you can see the hems dragging on the ground and they did look a bit ragged (and wet, because it was damp outside). I mean…that is what happens when you have material dragging on the wet ground like that…it’s not meant for it. I am just ready for this trend of floor-grazing pants hems to be over. I get why she is doing it, and she is far from the only one, but the pants are awesome (I cannot tell you how happy I am that she may be ushering in an era of non-skinny pants) and they would benefit from being taken up off the ground.

I absolutely love the black pants with the pearl detail (despite them being a bit long), and the boots are amazing! The green Strathberry cross body bag is a nice touch and the selection of rings on her right hand are darling.

Princess -to -be Meghan is is an extraordinary young woman who is inspiring millions of other young women around the world, not necessary with clothes and fashion, but through her taking-charge and naturally Leadership abilities and duty. Here two of Princess Meghan’s Most Inspirational Quotes: “I’ve never wanted to be a lady who lunches; I’ve always wanted to be a woman who works. And this type of work is what feeds my soul. (Meghan in ELLE Magazine, 2016) . “With fame comes opportunity, but it also includes responsibility – to advocate and share, to focus less on glass slippers and more on pushing through glass ceilings. And, if I’m lucky enough, to inspire.”
Meghan is the real People princess we were always wishing to have for UK and for the Commonwealth.
