What did you think of Meghan’s look for the Invictus Games opening events?
Surprise, surprise! Not! Black again. Hate to say this but someone should tell Meghan that she is starting to look like she is always attending a funeral. And the coat is so unnecessary. I do hope that when she gets to Fiji and Tonga she wears more colour as she is going to be so hot in black /dark colours in the hot climate.
Why don’t you tell her…..
Haha! She virtually wore black the whole day – at Hyde Park,, again in Cockatoo Is. and thenOpera House. We live in hope….as one of the other readers wrote she has such a nice bubbly happy personality so hopefully as time goes on she will evolve to less sombre colours. Plus she is young, glowing with a bub on the way so come on COLOUR!
I think navy is truly having a moment in Meghan’s life. Regardless of the color, the formal outfits on this tour have so far been boring to me. Great for those who are loving them.
My favorite look right now is the casual outfit she wore in Dubbo i.e. the Serena blazer, black jeans, white shirt and black boots. It just spoke to me in a way that her other outfits have not ?.
Hi Lisa, I completely get where you’re coming from regarding that great outfit Meghan wore in Dubbo. I think the reason why it’s so great is that it’s so universal, every woman could wear it and look great. It’s a great outfit for a casual Friday at the office, an outing with girl friends or out and about running errands. It’s truly the perfect all around outfit. I’ve ordered the blazer and can’t wait for it arrive, hopefully early next week! 🙂
I was so hoping that Meghan would repeat that gorgeous Stella McCartney cape dress and she did!! Unfortunately though she covered it up with a beautiful coat 🙁 Coat aside I think she looks radiant tonight! Oh my goodness, I’m having severe earring envy! They are gorgeous and the sparkle, oh my! I believe that they are Birks, which makes me wonder if she wiped out their stock before moving to London as she’s worn so many of their pieces.
It must be so incredible for her to be here with Harry, celebrating another Invictus Games which holds such a special place in his heart. As the mother, sister and daughter of servicemen, it means so much to me that these brave men and women receive the support, encouragement and recognition they deserve. So kudos to Harry for all of his hard work and dedication in bringing these games to life and to his fellow servicemen and women!! Good luck to all and I hope that everyone has a great time!
Lauri the dress she’s wearing tonight is not the coat dress from Stella McCartney. The coat dress was a different shade of blue I believe. However, those earring are really exquisite.
Thanks Savi! Looking at different photos of this outfit they all present different colors, some black on black, some navy on navy and some with a blue dress and black coat, so hard to tell which it actually is. 🙂
I think the clutch is the Dior one she wore at the RAF 100th Cerimony in July.
Another chic look from the Duchess in the Navy color that I know a lot of us wish she would retire for a bit…but for those of you who have been pregnant before (and without the whole world watching no less!) every day you can feel (and look) different and sometimes if you’re feeling larger or uncomfortable, a darker shade and a more an A-lined look often works best…(just my 2 cents) 🙂
It’s still a win and I love the “Meghan messy bun” so that’s always a perfect look for an evening event for me. I wish all the best to those who are participating in the Invictus Games – it’s a wonderful event Prince Harry has spearheaded 🙂
I haven’t been pregnant for 30+ years but I still have days of feeling “larger or uncomfortable”! 🙂 🙂 so yeah, dark colors and A-lines are my close friends!
Could this be the Earring Duchess of Sussex is wearing?

I mostly like the look. I am cutting her a break on my pet peeve of wearing coats indoors because she has styled it like a blazer/cape rather than outerwear. I don’t know why she went for the nude pumps, when we know she has a navy pair with her that would have been better.
Meghan looks lovely in this outfit and I like today’s messy bun. As for the consistent dark colors, Meghan is naturally a cheerful and vibrant person. She likely has never had to think about using clothes to create such emotions. I hope and believe she will come to understand the importance and power of bright colors to create cheerful and happy moods in her audience.
I don’t understand why she’d wear a dress with a long cape detail but then throw a coat over her shoulders which covers the cape detail. The other women pictured are wearing either dresses or suit jackets/blazers so it couldn’t have been that cold. Her new diamond and sapphire earrings are stunning.
Finally a recycle piece. But the coat ruined it!
Well, why would one wear a coat over a cape dress? Is she cold? Let’s start with two different shades of blue? navy? Also, the back of the coat is really wrinkled and looks sloppy. The “messy” Markle bun? Those two pieces of hair she wears to frame her face are distracting, just a fail for me. I .agree with Lisa, her formal outfits on this tour (with the exception of the white sheath) for me have been fairly boring also. She just likes navy, the colors of fashion this season embrace burgundy, plum, and forest green but she likes navy blue and black that is her choice. According to the press the Royals have to travel with a black outfit in case of a funeral, well she has that nailed. I wouldn’t be surprised if her evening attire is a shade of navy blue but hopefully not black.
The outfits on tour have been boring so far…yawn…albeit credit given that all the sartorial choices have been very “Meghan”, minimal and chic. There is only one true royal style icon and that is Princess Diana. Other modern royals such as Crown Princess Mary of Denmark, Queen Letizia of Spain, Queen Rania of Jordan and the Countess of Wessex are more exciting to watch, I love that they spice things up with prints, colours and textures and never fail to have this regal appeal (fitting for a royal), compare to Meghan who is definitely more laid back.
