Meghan – and a surprise guest, Harry! – attended a roundtable discussion with the Queen’s Commonwealth Trust and One Young World hosted at Windsor Castle. As part of the One Young World Summit, the international panel discussed gender equality and inclusion.
Meghan’s look was autumnal and chic in a monochrome burgundy ensemble. Meghan’s red leather skirt comes from Hugo Boss and was worn by Queen Letizia earlier this week – Letizia and Meghan have a very similar fashion sense! Meghan’s shoes were created by Sarah Flint in a bespoke colourway to match this very seasonal ensemble.
Heels: Sarah Flint Perfect Pump in Burgundy

Wonderful to see Meghan looking so svelte and the rich plum colour really suits her. I love that she rocks a raunchy touch of leather in her new HB skirt.
The uncluttered neckline of her cashmere is businesslike and extra height in the updo adds a touch of grace. Sarah Flint pumps are to die for.

Hi Bertie!! I have to say that when I saw the photos of Meghan today my first thought was of you! I was hoping that her outfit today would help put your fears to rest 🙂 My second thought, was “She’s Back!!” Pencil skirts were made for Meghan’s figure. I’m jealous but am able to live my pencil skirt live vicariously through Meghan!!
Bertie says
Hi Laurie, thanks for thinking of me! I have to admit it was with some relief I saw Meghan had returned to a polished look for this outing. I’m right with you on vicarious pencil skirt living, best way, possibly how to have your cake and eat it!
Lauri says
Without worrying about the extra calories!!! 🙂
Bertie says
Perzactly!

I think this is officially one of my favorite Meghan looks. She looked AMAZING today! Stunning!

I very much agree that Meghan shares Queen Letizia’s fashion sense. As an aside, I also think that as a royal, Meghan is most similar to Queen Maxima.
Love today’s outfit. It’s Meghan’s “Suits” style, thus a professional casual look. Again, another flattering color on her, so yay! It remains to be seen if Meghan is intentional in wearing shades from her color season or if it’s simply a matter of her wearing the colors of this season. Looking forward to seeing more.
Lauri says
HI Fabie, I have to ask what similarities do you see between Queen Maxima and Meghan? I’m asking because while I see that both have a warm and vibrant personality, style wise they seem like polar opposites. Maxima has always favored bright, rather load colors and huge statement jewelry, which I really think matches her vibrant personality. On the other side Meghan favors neutral colors (with the occasional pop of color) and small, delicate jewelry. Personally, I think Queen Letiza and Meghan are more style sisters than Maxima and Meghan. Looking forward to hearing your take on this! 🙂
OG SG says
Fabie said “as a royal” so I assume she meant in her personality on royal outings and not her outfits. They are both warm and accessible and are affectionate hugs and that sort of thing so I agree that they are really similar in their demeanor.
Which is quite unusual for royals. I don’t think anyone could think their fashion sense is comparable, lol. I love Maxima, and think she can pull off some truly insane looks that no one else can, and I can’t see Meghan even trying. Lol.
Lauri says
I do believe you’re right og sg! I’ve often said that Maxima’s love of bright colors and big statement jewelry matches her vibrant and big personality! While my own style is much more like Meghan’s, I so enjoy seeing Max’s loud colors, vibrant prints and oversized jewelry and as you said no one else can pull it off like she can. Viva Queen Maxima!
Fabuleuse Fabie says
OG SG, I replied to Laurie before seeing you’d already clarified for me. Lol, I could’ve spent those minutes on twitter! 🙂 Glad to see some Queen Max fans on here!
Fabie Bodek says
I was referring to personality. The Duchess of Cambridge is similar to Crown Princess Mary both in style sense and in demeanor. The Duchess of Sussex is similar to Queen Letizia and Queen Maxima in that they are women who exude power, individuality and self-confidence. On the personal level, I find Meghan to be similar to Queen Maxima in approachability, cheerfulness and warmth, while she is similar to Queen Leticia in her physique and style sense.
Initially, I thought Meghan was going to be a fashion risk taker like Queen Maxima, but it appears she might be developing a work uniform that doesn’t cause controversy, leaving the fun factor for off-duty — like the recent wedding in Italy.

I saw a photo of Letiza over the summer and had to look twice as she looked so much like Meghan. She wore a simple yet gorgeous black dress and had her hair up with the tendrils hanging down. The resemblance was uncanny. I wonder if Letiza is looking to Meghan for style ideas too? I have several women who inspire me fashion wise so I’m sure the royal women do to.

Stunning look! Meghan’s Mirror, I posted my first-ever comment on this blog over on the “Capsule Wardrobe” post, but I cannot see it! Did it get lost? I hope this comment goes through, as I look forward to being part of this positive community!

I think it’s great that we are seeing her in some color this fall! Green, then purple and now this gorgeous burgundy. As much as I adore a good neutral, it’s been fun to see her switch it up!
OG SG says
Love this! I am a big fan of Letizia’s Hugo Boss looks so I’m glad Meghan is picking from that label as well. I like the monochrome look…I have a similar skirt so I am inspired to try it with a similar color sweater…although without the adorable heels, because I gave up wearing high shoes a while ago, lol.

Her hair has been looking amazing!!! As long as it’s not a messy bun, I’m good 😂.
Anna says
Wow! She looks amazing. This outfit is so perfect!

The Duchess hair looks fantastic up, love it. Her shoes are gorgeous, beautiful colour.
Mardy Druel says
Beautiful all around. love it.
Natatat says
I love Meghan’s fall/winter style. Last year and this year, she gravitated to alot of rich colours and interesting textures in her outfits. I think clothing in the cooler months just suits her.
Lauri says
Hi natatat! It seems to me that we’ve seen more of Meghan’s fall/winter style then we have of her spring/summer style. Her first summer as a royal was spent, I believe, just getting her footing as a newlywed and newlyroyal, so while she had some great looks we perhaps weren’t seeing “her” summer style. Then her second summer was spent being pregnant or newly delivered so we barely saw her at all. I’m looking forward to this coming summer, unless she is pregnant again, to see how her spring/summer style develops.
Mia says
Wow, Fable and OG SG, that’s so cool how you point out the personality and style similarities Meghan has with these two, otherwise very different royal ladies! A very interesting take I hadn’t thought of, b ut it seems true. Thanks!
Mia says
I do love this twist on monochrome look by Duchess Meghan. The red leather skirt is to-die-for, and the purply red top with matching purply red heels customized by Sarah Flint give off such a classy, sophisticated, yet edgy vibe that’s totally Meg! Her accessory I guess are those ‘acquired taste’ loose locks this time on both sides, framing her face. Some might feel the hairstyle is a little too casual and messy, but the added loose locks give off the effortlessness vibe Meghan is known for sportng..

Found a similar skirt that uses vegan leather!

Looks like Meghan gathered inspiration from the Brochu Walker and Dore collaboration 🙂
