One of the questions that we get asked most often at Meghan’s Mirror are what rules Meghan lives by when choosing what selections she makes from her closet. We asked Meghan’s Mirror resident stylist, Audrey, to fill us in and share Meghan Markle’s Top 10 Style Tips.

Invest in Good Quality Flats


They can be dressed down or dressed up for the evening, and they work for all seasons. Here are some flats Meghan has worn for inspiration!

Know Your Denim


Skinny jeans, in both black and denim, are so versatile. Know what works best for you – Meghan loves a variety of styles of jeans from plain to deconstructed, but also loves a slim boyfriend style for a more relaxed look. Here are some of Meghan’s favourite pairs of jeans for inspiration!

Throw on a Cardigan


Invest in a solid cardigan or sweater, something that can be worn with many different things in your closet. A good way to make it more stylish is to pick one in luxurious cashmere. Some of Meghan’s favourite sweaters are amazing places to start your search.

A White Shirt is a Must


Q white basic button down shirt is the most basic item that should be in any minimalist’s closet. A nice cotton shirt with a nice cut will mix with everything in your closet – from jeans to black dressy trousers. For tees consider a striped version and mix it up with both long and short sleeve options.

Pump up the Neutral


A neutral pair of pumps in beige or nude are a key closet item. Choose from suede for a more dressy feel or a nice black leather pair for everyday. A good fit is very important for heels and since they are classic, they can be an investment purchase. Remember that you always want to be comfortable; posture speaks volumes and if your feet hurt, it will show.

Nothing like a Good Accessory


Accessories, accessories accessories! A good bag, clutch or simple zip around wallet can dress up or down your outfit, don’t be afraid to add a touch of colour for these, like a moss green, or this year’s fall Burgundy color to add depth to a monochrome look.

Mix it up with a Dress


A great, structured form fitting dress will take you everywhere you need to be in style. To have more styling options, choose one just above the knee or midi length, adding accessories to work with your event or occasion.

A Classic Cool Coat


A well-constructed quality wool coat or cardigan-style coat are very good investment pieces. The length can vary depending on preference, although the most versatile would be knee length. Camel is a year round neutral, but navy and black also work well. A belted coat is is also a great choice, leave it open for a casual look or tied up to accentuate the style.

Summer Style Stands Alone


A stand alone item, like a dress, is best in summer. This is the season when all you need is a simple printed dress or a long striped dress shirt. Added bonus is that minimal investment is often required to pick up some great pieces.

These Boots are Made for Walking


A great pair of boots is a key fall/winter item, the preferred styles being ankle boots and knee high boots. Select a leather pair of knee high boots for a more casual look or suede ankle boots, flats or heels for a dressier casual style.

Know the Colours of the Season


Keep an eye out for the colours of the season, knowing which work for you… and which don’t. Build your closet around the basic year around monochrome navy, black and camel, but add in small touches of seasonal colour too, like fall 2017’s hit burgundy or army green and petrol blue.
