Meghan and Harry continued their first day in Cape Town with a visit to the District Six Museum and the District Six Homecoming Centre, where they learned more about the diversity of the area. Meghan and Harry toured the museum, met with locals, and participated in a cooking activity at the Homecoming Centre!
Meghan opted for a bold blue shirtdress from Veronica Beard for the second part of the day’s engagements. The dress may look familiar – she wore it recently on the Royal Tour of Australia! We love that the Duchess chose something from her closet, especially something as stylish and effortless as this bright blue dress.

What did you think of Meghan’s look for the start of the South African Tour?

I’m so happy to see this dress again! My favorite of all Meghan’s dresses. I almost gave up on seeing Meghan in a summery color that is also great with her complexion. The dress is a bit tight around the chest likely due to breastfeeding, but the fabric drapes so beautifully. Just gorgeous.

Wonderful to see this classic shritwaister again, and to see it adapt to casual styling with the espadrilles. Meghan has a real gift for tieing a belt neatly. Loose hair is lovely and occasion-appropriate.
Have noticed that this morning’s print frock was High Street prices and now we have a repeat, I wonder if the fashion-budget police have been getting to her. I hope we see a bit of couture, I can’t believe we won’t at some stage. I’d got used to her way of dressing and was beginning to feel that if she didn’t turn out in overdressed, overpriced designer there would be something wrong. So I’m going into minor withdrawal here, though I know no-one will agree with that. I like to see a girl set out as she means to go on.
Then again, I’ve often wondered if the high-end appearances were part of Meghan’s reactions to finding herself at the centre of the world’s most famous royal family, and not wanting to let the side down. It’s possible to be a touch over-anxious in those circs, in a foreign county and all. No matter how many times you visit a place beforehand , I don’t think anything prepares you for the totality of being there for good. I also think she comes from a background where dressing up was important. whether for going to church or socially, and perhaps again she didn’t see it as overdoing things a bit. I often find Melania ‘overdressed’ in the same way, though always event-appropriate, and that could be a culture thing again. Anyway, these are musings and no doubt she will prove me wrong in no time!!

I agree with almost everything you wrote Bertie! The only thing I sorta, kinda disagree with is that we wont see her in high-end couture pieces again. I definitely think we will but she’s been on maternity leave for the last 6 months and then for the Smart Set launch, of course she’d want to wear pieces from that collection and she’s still post-partum and probably breastfeeding. But I do understand your sense of glamour withdrawals 🙂 I’m having them too 🙂
And yes, Meghan probably did dress “extra’ but geez she married into the blooming British Royal Family!!! If I married into that family I’d be wearing so many jewels I’d make Queen Mary look like a pauper. 🙂 And let’s not forget that the other royal ladies regularly wear Prada, Wickstead, D&G, McQueen as well as bespoke pieces galore! I do recall when I was a child and went for my yearly checkup my mother dressed me in my Sunday best. I believe that it was a sign of respect for the doctor and to this day I have to be close to death before I’ll go to the doctor’s looking sloppy.

Lauri,, thanks for being so darling as to agree! I thought I was just rambling. I know we’ll see her in couture again, the upcoming Ambassador’s reception has to be a prime opportunity. I love the thought of you out-blinging Queen Mary. And I do think the labels worn by others get overlooked when the negative stuff on Meghan starts. I’m very happy that you recall being made to dress up when young and how it has a lasting impression. I can just imagine something like that happening with Meghan and many other well-brought up American young ladies and it’s a great relief to have my little theory confirmed. Thanks!

I like a good shirtdress, and this one is no exception! Her hair looks great here (although I also liked the earlier ponytail).

The Duchess looks great. I loved this dress the first time she worn it and the same now. It falls beautifully, the colour is so pretty and suits her perfectly. The wedges work well with the dress. Another outfit appropriate for the event. She is doing fantastic!

I think now that she has tons of chic, couture and designer clothes, pre/during/post pregnancy, I would think/hope that we will start to see repeats. I think she was building a wardrobe, and now she is hopefully going to follow in her sister-in-laws footsteps and choose repeats here are there. But still stun us with new outfits as well. I’m a fan, but I think the price tag for the dress she wore to the recent wedding was not a good move for her. I just hope that people are advising her on choices that will reflect well, and not add to the nasty negativity that seems to follow her wherever she goes. I just feel like why add to it. I understand she’s on a jet-setting worldwide stage now, but no one, particularly someone deal with an image problem, needs to wear a $13,000 dress. Just my humble opinion. Can’t wait to see more of the baby, and more fabulous MM outfits!

In the pictures I have seen of this outfit the earrings appear to be a more chunky design like the Nina Bosch Golden Sun ones.

Earrings could also be Nina Bosch Savannah ones.

A bit late, but I love this outfit, it is so casual and I love how she made this gorgeous dress casual by pairing it with espadrilles and lose hair. And love the color on her!
Speaking of espadrilles, I recently bought a pair of Castañer espadrilles same as Meghan’s, though I’ll have to wait till spring/summer to wear them.
Maybe I’ll find a MirrorMeg shirt dress to pair them with!
