This evening, Meghan and Harry attended a Reception at the British High Commissioner’s Residence, where they met a cross-section of inspiring leaders which underlined the rich and diverse nature of the UK’s partnership with South Africa.
Meghan continued the theme of repeating previously seen items from her royal closet this Tour with the striped maxi dress from Martin Grant making a re-appearance.
Heels: Pointed Black High Heel Suede Shoes, believed to be the Manolo Blahnik but unable to confirm

Dress: Martin Grant Striped Max Dress
Love Meghan’s look today? We asked the team to come up with some of their favourite #MirrorMeg options:
What did you think of Meghan’s look for the Youth Reception? And as we close Day 2 of the Royal Tour of South Africa, which of Meghan’s looks was your fave?
Laura B. says
I love seeing some of my favorite dresses from last year’s tour making a second appearance! The expectation that royals should wear really high end outfits and that we should only see them once has always baffled me. Clothing is meant to be used, to be worn, more than once! I’m so happy that we are seeing some repeats this tour.

I’m very pleased to see this dress again, it looked great last time, but my goodness, we are really having the low-key recycle theme hammered home. The problem is that ditching all the McCartney and Givenchy makes such a sharp contrast. It’s good to see the Martin Grant adapt to a more formal occasion but I do think it’s a problem that it has previously been worn as a beach dress and might come across as dressing down. I like that this dress fits better than a couple of earlier items and it is very abstemious of Meghan to forgo jewellery, perhaps wise against these bold contrast stripes. She looks blooming!

This was one of my favorite dresses from the previous tour, so it is good to see it again. I still think the hem needs to be taken up a smidge.

Well, not what I was expecting, but totally appropriate. This was a casual event rather the formal reception I was expecting.. Meghan really did her fashion homework for this trip. The dress is too long as in the previous wear, but the color is so flattering. Meghan’s hair looks very healthy. Another event-appropriate outfit and a repeat wear with a sensible price tag all wrapped in one and she looks gorgeous. Meghan is killing it!

I loved this the first time the Duchess wore it and the same now. She looks lovely.
Pam says
I was not crazy about this dress first time around, and, unfortunately, it looks too snug in the waist area. And I do agree it’s too long. I don’t understand the lack of tailoring in her choices sometimes.
Again, though, the color is on trend and her hair looks good.

I love everything about this tour already. The issues that the Duke and Duchess are highlighting are so important and they interact with people so effortlessly. They look the happiest that I have seen them and Harry truly looks like he is in a place that he loves- as he stated before- Africa, “it is where I feel most at home” . The Duchess has had such an effortless, chic look these past two days, it is great to see some of the pieces that she has worn before being utilized again. She has blended in beautifully with her environment and their ensembles are low-key but still elegantly put together. I can’t wait to see what the rest of this tour holds!

Get thee a tailor! I understand they want to downplay “fashion” and royalty, and put the focus on the causes, but this dress is a sad trombone.

I follow Meghan and I must say as a South African I couldn’t wait for the Sussex family to land here. Her stance on shining a light on the causes is working for me… I am learning things about my own country through their visit that I never knew before, seeing places, learning about organizations doing great work, hearing about people that are forces for change. Our local press shines their light on the gloom and doom and yes we need to be real about the adversity, yet we also need to see the whole so we can add our voices to the hope and move our country forward. Yes this is a style site and yes it’s important to be polished as a royal but just think if Meghan emerges every day tailored to perfection and looking perfect in the latest style…the other people like me will be fawning over her style and looks and we won’t be learning a thing about what Harry and Meghan are here for. There will be many opportunities for showcasing Royal style. I for one will be here for it. For now I just want to learn more and do more. The way her clothes are bunching up according to some and the repeats and causalness etcetera make me pause the style issues for a bit and take her message more seriously. I think that’s the agenda and boy do we need to take our issues here more seriously. When she feels she wants to step up the glamour and perfection and “royal style”, that will be great for another audience. This audience needs this Meghan, she read it just right. Well done to Harry too. Don’t ask me how I could admire Princess Diana’s designer clothes and style while listening to her messages and love her like she’s my own family. She’s Diana, I don’t know if another person like her will exist again. Meghan is doing Meghan and she’s doing great.
Bertie says
What a lovely tribute to Meghan, thank you Kam, you’ve given me plenty to think about 🙂 Tho to be fair this page does state it is looking at style choice, and maybe information about projects might be found elsewhere. But exciting for you to have the Sussexes at hand and see your beautiful country with fresh eyes.
Kam says
True Bertie…I’m mainly here for the style tips …even the criticisms are all constructive and learning points, not personal…not many sites manage that…so here’s to continued great style inspiration and yes, their Royal Highnesses are a lovely breath of fresh air and a great inspiration to us here 😊
Shersha says
Thank you for this great comment Kam. I am in agreement with you completely. It is wonderful that the Duke and Duchess are helping you to see your beautiful country with new eyes! This tour has also led me to rummage through my library and the Hello and The Lady magazines that I purchased as a very young woman the year and month before the beloved Princess Diana tragically passed away. In one of them Diana was on the French Riviera with the young princes and Harry is driving her on a water scooter. It just made me realize once again how very proud she would be of the caring men that they have become!
Kam says
I recall some of the French Riviera pictures Shersha, how incredible that she packed in so much in such a short space of time. It’s not often the whole world unites to love a single person. Diana will surely be so proud of her sons. I wish both families every success. The great energy and optimism that the Sussex family is bringing to our country is something to behold. When they meet Graca Machel, the tears of joy will surely flow for this new generation of compassionate people our world really needs. Stylish too 😊
