Meghan made an appearance at Wimbledon today, showing up with her sister-in-law, the Duchess of Cambridge (aka Kate) to cheer for her good friend Serena Williams in her quest for the Wimbledon Women’s Championship – also happening to catch the end of yesterday’s men’s match which had run long.
The Duchesses sat in the Royal Box, and were spotted chatting with each other as they watched the great tennis being played in front of them. The Duchess of Cambridge is the Royal Patron of Wimbledon.
The sisters-in-law looked to not only enjoy each other’s company, but to have genuinely enjoyed their time at the tennis match.
What a classic look for Meghan’s return to Wimbledon, featuring prominently American designer Ralph Lauren. We loved the simplicity and ease of the tied back hair, and the fact that she mixed it up in a pair of wide-leg trousers versus the standard/typical dress. We also need to learn Meghan’s secrets to her shirt staying tucked in in such a perfect manner. The look really suited her, and was a perfect look to enjoy the hot summer day and great tennis!
Hat: Maison Michel “Virginie” Fedora hat
Handbag: Altuzarra Ghiandi Bag in Black

Blouse: Ralph Lauren Collection Striped Cotton Shirt
Trousers: Ralph Lauren “Charmaine” Silk Wide Leg Trousers
Shoes: TBC (No images seen yet due to long/wide trousers!)
Audrey shares that both of the pieces are from J.Crew.

Both ladies look nice; I really enjoy their different styles.
Those pants on the DoS are everything. The striped shirt is also very much true to her pre-Duchess style, as is that hat. The shirt is slightly loose, which is a fit she seems to prefer for shirts.
Hoping Serena wins!

I did see one photo that showed a peak of her shoes. I’m guessing they are the Sarah Flint pair she wore in Ireland.
Lauri says
What do you think about the dark shoes with these white pants Lisa? I was kinda surprised to see a what looked like black shoe, I think a lighter blue or even white shoe would have looked better.
OG SG says
Not Lisa, but I would have liked to see her wear a pair of white sandals. I know Kate has worn sandals to Wimbledon before so they are not “allowed.”

So glad I’m as big of a Tennis fan and I am a fan of the Duchess of Sussex! I knew she would come to see her good friend Serena play in the finals today. I saw she and the Duchess of Cambridge walk in together on television earlier and loved the classic, slightly retro nod to the outfits of Wimbledon past with the blue stripped shirt and white silk trousers (and of course the famous panama hat).
Since this first men’s match is a continuation of the match from yesterday ended due to the curfew, the roof is closed, and apparently is quite hot inside, so I’m wondering if the long sleeves the Duchess is wearing will get uncomfortable, but otherwise, it’s a lovely clean, chic look.
And yes, she’s doing a slightly messy bun again with some tendrils in front, but…it’s hot and humid and this is the best way to keep all her blown out hair tamed on a day like this! 🙂
Lisa says
There are photos showing that she rolled up the sleeves so she may have been feeling hot.
The Fashionably Fit Life says
I have to find a replica for that shirt she has on. I have the white pants already

We just added some really lovely MirrorMegs to the post!

Love this look…very crisp and cool. The only quibble I have is that (which you can’t see from these photos so much) is that the bottom of the pants were dragging and pooling around her feet on the ground. Hem your pants! I can’t imagine that white pants will last more than one wear when they are pulled through the grass, etc. I still remember with sadness her great pants from Scotland with completely destroyed hems from dragging on the ground 🙁 Plus it just looks silly to wear pants that are far too long.
I am not into Kate’s dress. I typically like polka dots a lot but I think the asymmetrical ruching at the one sleeve and hip just makes it look bizarre…and the nude accessories are so boring.
Lauri says
Hi OG, in one of the model photos these pants were pooling on the ground, I think that Mr. Lauren designed them that way. I agree that Kate’s accessories are boring, I think a dark grey shoe and bag would have worked better with this dress or even a brighter contrasting color but I don’t think that that’s is Kate style.
OG SG says
Well, it is all well and good on a model who is standing on a clean floor, but not very practical in life, heh. It is not just Meghan…some celebrities also wear pants that swallow their feet on the red carpet, but again, typically they are not in a place that will ruin the pants. Walking on cement, grass, etc…just hem them already! It is a pet peeve because Meghan has such lovely (and expensive) pants, so I would like to see them again.
Lisa says
Interestingly, her BFF and stylist (Jessica Mulroney) seems to favor this type of pants and wears them herself.
Meghan must be on the shorter side if the pants are touching the floor when she’s wearing heels.

What a lovely day at Wimbledon! And what a great day for royal watchers, double the Duchesses, double the fashion!!
I like what both Duchesses are wearing today and am very glad to see that each is keeping with her own unique sense of style. I’m loving Meghan’s outfit today, so modern yet so appropriate for Wimbledon! I did notice that in one of the model photos of these pants they were pooling on the ground so perhaps that is the way Mr. Lauren wanted them to fit. Personally, I don’t wear pants that pool on the ground but rather prefer pants that lightly skim the ground. I’m loving her blouse today!!! I have one that is very similar but unfortunately it’s a bit too tight in the bust (and I’m not at all busty) so I usually wear it with a white tank underneath and buttons undone. Does anyone else have that issue with button down shirts, they fit great everywhere but always pull or gap across the bust? So annoying!!
I did want to share that due to Meghan’s inspiration I’ve decided to practice a more self-care in my life. Imho, Meghan has long practiced self-care even before meeting Harry and to me it really shows not only in her skin and figure but in her confident yet easy going and compassionate manner. I’ve found that I’ve been too caught up in doing for others and doing what is “expected” of me that I’ve forgotten to take care of myself and it is starting to take it’s toll on me physically, mentally and spiritually. I’m sharing this with you all as most of the people in my life either don’t know about my little royal obsession or think it’s a bit of hoot but I knew that you all here would understand why I’m finding some inspiration from Meghan.
Thanks MM for yet another wonderful post!!! I hope you’re enjoying Wimbledon and perhaps having a bit of Pimms!

Hi Lauri
My friend is a psychiatric counsellor who says you must care for yourself, give yourself space and time before helping others so go for it. Am glad MM is giving you inspiration, think she is great and loved her outfit today, she looked cool and chic despite it being very hot today. Am off to steal her style, have the wide leg trousers in blue stripe, so cream shirt needed!!!!
Lauri says
Awww Thanks SallyG!!! The last couple of months have been particularly tough, lost two long-term, close friendships and that kinda knocked me for a loop. I don’t know if those friendships can ever be repaired or even if I want them too. It made me realize that I’ve turned a blind eye to things over the years that I shouldn’t have and I do have to say that getting up the courage to end these friendships was very empowering but at the same time difficult and sad.
I have a pair of wide leg navy pants that I love to wear in the summer, I will be pulling those out of my closet soon 🙂
OG SG says
I feel you. I am also trying to practice more self-care. I’m a lawyer, and self-care is starting to be stressed in the profession because there are so many lawyers with mental and physical health problems as well as addictions. I don’t like yoga, so I am not gonna follow in Meghan’s footsteps on that one, but I have found meditation to be an excellent self-care method that doesn’t take a lot of time out of the day. And it helps also in dealing with and ruminating on the type of problems you have discussed. There are a lot of apps out there but I prefer Buddhify. Good luck 🙂

MM does certainly seem to be a shining example of treating your body right and some introspection and self-love and she’s definitely inspiring. I think Harry has never looked so slim, healthy, and happy! I think she probably inherited some of it from her mom and has also really bounced back from difficult parts of her life (experiencing racism, a short marriage) to become even happier. If you lost two friendships over the past months, definitely take your time to mourn and then learn from the experience!
As for her look today, I love it. Thoroughly classic with a modern twist. I think when we look back at her styles in 30 years they’ll be seen as timeless and gorgeous. I would love it if she wore some things that were more budget-friendly, but she’s rocking the luxury brands so beautifully that I can’t really complain.

I love Meghan’s outfit today. I think the wears trousers better than dresses, probably it is because of her figure type. Nautical style is my favorite and it’s perfect for sport events, so it was especially nice to see her wearing that striped shirt and white trousers.
The only thing I can criticize is how the shirt fits. I guess it’s too long for Meghan, that’s why it has such annoying bulge at the front. I really like loose fit, but that was actually not a lose fit, but a bad fit.
Maybe a half-tuck could be a better option.
Karen says
I agree both ladies looked chic, cool, and appropriate. I also agree the length of the pants is only appropriate for the runway, not life.
And I will never be a fan of the messy bun. Remember Kate has naturally curly hair and manages to keep it looking flawless every day. Meghan could take some pointers from her.
Deborah Lorenzen says
Have to agree Kate’s hair looked especially lovely and glossy today! Kate has a 1000 watt smile and those dimples! I loved MM’s shirt, but the pants are too long and I don’t know how she walks without tripping! Although I loved the shirt it looked messy from the back view, the collar was rumpled and I think the shirt was a tad too large. The navy handbag is to die for!
Smithy says
Agreed, I really like high-waisted trousers but think a tucked-in blouse would have worked much better than the Ralph Lauren shirt. I think the look was slightly too casual for my taste and I actually think that pinstriped Aquazurra dress she wore to one of the Commonwealth Receptions would have worked here. Kate wore a strappy Alice Temperley dress to Wimbledon in 2011, so it’s not as if a bit of shoulder isn’t allowed (unless the rules have changed?).
Deborah Lorenzen says
The shirt was just too big. If you saw the video when she and Kate exited the car, MM was tugging at her shirt and waistband so she must have felt a little uncomfortable having so much “shirt” tucked into her trousers. Liked the pinstriped dress too. Heels with this outfit looked off and too “Melainia”; she wears 6 inch heels with practically everything.
Lauri says
I loved the rumpled collar, imho it projected an ease that is very much Meghan’s style.
OG SG says
I would honestly rather the messy bun than Kate’s bigTexas pageant hair here. I don’t think it looks flawless so much as retro. She rarely wears it blown straight, but it looks great when she does.
Tara says
I loved their looks today and the fact that their outfits looked good individually and together. Don’t love dragging slacks (could use a teeny bit of a hem) but the wide leg is fabulous. Meghan’s hair looked so pretty. That’s how to do a more relaxed bun, soft but not too messy. The face-framing tendrils were pretty and complement her face shape. It’s been so fun following all the latest outfits while remembering these are two educated, accomplished women. The clothes are just a fun part of their “work” and lifestyle –not a defining part of who they are as strong women.
lawmom says
My five year old, “Mummy, why are you yelling ‘hem your pants’ at your computer?” pretty much sums up how I feel about this outfit. I like the idea, but the shirt is too big and the way too long pants anywhere other than a runway, photo shoot, or red carpet event (maybe…) – and especially worn on grass – are ridiculous.
