Here at Meghan’s Mirror, we have become totally obsessed with Meghan Markle’s interior design style. Through her now-defunct Instagram and her blog, The Tig, we had an inside (literally) look at her Toronto home.
We chatted with Erika Nicholson, a California-based interior designer and antiques buyer who gave us the scoop on Meghan Markle’s interior design style, from her $150 bed to her $7,000 dining table.
Meghan’s home was beautifully appointed with a mix of cozy and cool. Erika sums up this style by saying:
“Meghan Markle’s Toronto Home reflects her California laid back style. In the living area the white linen sectional sofa looks perfectly cozy and slouchy. White flowing window treatments and white linens on her beds create an airy cool yet sophisticated vibe.”
They look perfect for canoodling with a prince, am I right?
So, where does Meghan Markle draw her inspiration from? Is it her LA upbringing, her urban Toronto lifestyle, or her international travels? Well, turns out it is all of those. Erika sums it up by saying:
“I love the eclectic mix in Meghan’s Toronto home. Scandinavian modern dining furniture mixed with Boho elements like the Moroccan Beni Ourain wool rug under the dining table, and sheepskins thrown over the backs of chairs create an interesting combination of textures and styles.”
We love the perfectly-imperfect mix of styles, which is very on-point with Meghan’s personal style.
A mix of old-and-new creates a comfortable, lived-in look. Erika says:
“Unique antique pieces help to warm up the space and add further interest. Lovely fresh flowers, scented candles, and room diffusers add a romantic and personal touch.”
These touches make the space feel very “Meghan,” and give us a glimpse into her favorite things. This specialized print, seen below, depicts the rare Dragon Blood Tree that grows on Yemen’s Socotra peninsula. We get a feel for Meghan’s love of travel and exploration through these unique art prints.
One of the things we love about Meghan’s style is her preference for down-to-earth brands that we already love. Erika notes,
“[like] her fashion choices it appears that Meghan isn’t afraid to mix some budget friendly pieces into her home. Who hasn’t shopped for their guest room bed at IKEA?”
We 110% agree.
What we are all really dying to know is what the future holds. As the Duchess of Sussex, so many things in Meghan Markle’s life are about to change. How will her new palace digs affect her Scandi-Moroccan-LA-romantic-cozy vibe? Erika has some predictions:
“Although Kensington Palace will require a more formal design, I hope Meghan is able to bring some of her California cool yet approachable style to England. I could see her mixing light natural fabrics and her contemporary art with family heirlooms and antiques. Her love of books, fresh flowers and signature scented candles could easily be incorporated into even the most grand space.”
Doesn’t that sound like somewhere we’d all like to be?
We have to admit, we love the girly, cozy, happy style of her Toronto home. We can’t wait to see how her personal style melds with her royal household to create a modern fairytale castle. Check out all of Meghan Markle’s home style items:

Thanks for these interesting posts MM! I wonder how Meghan and Harry will decorate their new homes! Will they have one style for the country home and another more formal style for their new KP apartment? I do hope that someday they might release a few photos like Diana did.

Will have to cross our fingers for some photos! xo, A&C

Possibly my favorite feature yet! I’ve been waiting for a post just like this forever. Her home was gorgeous. So surprised to see IKEA on there – and kicking myself for not getting it myself! Thanks for the peek into all the details. 🙂

Can you find out what that Joshua tree poster is? I am trying to find it – It makes a great statement piece.

Me and my mom have been trying to figure out too!

Do you know what brand the living room couch is?

Nerding out over all the lovely details! Is it just me or was the pic of her on the couch with dogs and wine taken at Harry’s? It reminds me of a pic released when they went public with the courtship.

I’m in love with the vintage inspired floor length mirror…any idea who makes it ? I’ve also seen it in a celebrity’s home but can’t remember the magazine.

The tall mirror with the gold accent and cage line is stunning. I really hope the site doesn’t forget to add details about finding out the rest of name brands she used on her interior style.

For the MM team and any curious readers, I think I stumbled on two more candles (one of which is pictured in this post):
-Eclectic by Tom Dixon
-Royalty Scented Diffuser by Tom Dixon
Happy Mirroring! 🙂

I accidentally stumble on new finds from time to time! A couple more Tom Dixon pieces (I thinK!)
-the Bash Vessel by Tom Dixon (in the kitchen, pictured with a ceramic pitcher online)
-matching Eclectic diffuser by Tom Dixon on the console table
Browsing Pinterest (while planning my own IKEA trip!) I came across a couple other IKEA finds:
-Ingolf barstool
-Zamioculcas plant by the sun mirror on the bar cart and (I assume!) white IKEA vase
She has such great style, mixing high/low like any of us! Couldn’t resist sharing. Hope this info is helpful to anyone browsing for Replimegs or Mirror Megs. Happy New Year to the amazing MM team and lovely MM community! 🙂

And now I’m fairly certain about the ESTATE LINEN SHALE ESSEX BED – you can see it in the headboard details! This is just too much fun. And a total accident to find! Hope someone enjoys the details. 🙂

Anyone tired of the chain comments? Haha Sold out, but the West Elm Capiz Round Shimmer Mirror looks like it was in her guest room. There seem to be plenty of similar styles online!
Danielle says
Last one, promise… West Elm again: terrace nightstand, still available – and on sale!!

Looks like she was a big Tom Dixon/Eclectic fan – there’s another pic of the end table floating around, and it looks like she used the Tom Dixon Form Set of Five Small Bowls (part of the Eclectic by Tom Dixon collection, like her diffuser/candle) as a jewelry trinket tray. Looks identical and makes sense given the context.

I am VERY interested in the couch as well! Any details?!
