It is no secret that, here at Meghan’s Mirror, we’ve become experts in Meghan Markle’s style. We predicted her wedding day style down to the shoes and knew what Demellier London handbag she would love before she ever wore the brand.
We decided to start making more predictions – what might Meghan wear, and what brands might she come to love? One of the first names on the list was Alexandra de Curtis, a handbag brand inspired by L.A. and born in London. Meghan is what one might call handbag obsessed, and we are sure she is always on the lookout for a new brand to love – especially one that focuses on quality, traditional craftsmanship, and ethical labor. We love all the ways that this handbag brand ties back to the places and ideas that Meghan loves.
Alexandra de Curtis was born and raised in L.A., just like Meghan, and shares that California-girl effortless style. Alexandra has said that she wanted “a handbag that would take weight off my shoulder and not add to it, a design that is effortlessly stylish and functional, and luxuriously chic.” So, that’s what she decided to create. In between completing her degree and landing a job at a little magazine known as Vogue UK, Alexandra launched her eponymous brand from her London flat.
The entire line is inspired by European elegance, and the designer often cites Olivia Palermo, one of Meghan’s friends, as her muse. Meghan Markle often said her fashion inspirations were effortlessly stylish European women, making this line a perfect style match for the Duchess of Sussex. Their latest line features a luxurious aubergine embossed leather material, which we would love to see Meghan carrying around. Alexandra shared with us her thoughts on Meghan possibly carrying one of her handbags:
“The Duchess of Sussex has such an effortlessly stylish and modern way of dressing, I believe she would look great in any of our bags. Our clean and simple lines would look great with her glamorous yet unfussy style. For example, they would look beautiful with any of the sculpted coats and jaunty hats she wore last winter. I look forward to seeing what she’ll be wearing on her next royal engagement!”
So, which styles do we predict Meghan might choose?
The Mini Satchel
One choice seems obvious – the Mini satchel is ideal for a royal engagement. Meghan loves a little handbag she can carry delicately with one hand. The style is ultra-lightweight, and will fit an iPhone, lipgloss, and some mints, allowing Meghan to meet and mingle all day long.
The Tall Loren Tote
When we saw this style, we were immediately reminded of Meghan Markle’s Mulberry “Maple” bag. This tote is perfect for all your essentials, plus a MacBook, a juicy novel, and a Soma water bottle. Again, the style is incredibly lightweight, making it a perfect companion for a long drive to a royal engagement or a first-class lounge layover.
We’d love to hear from you – what Alexandra de Curtis bag are you lusting over? What style do you think Meghan would love?

Okay, this is kinda cruel MM!! I’ve been fighting my obsession with Meghan’s Strathberry handbag and now you’re showing me more gorgeous bags?! That’s just not fair!! LOL In all honesty, these Alexandra de Curtis handbags are beautiful and I love that they are said to be light weight, nothing is worse than bag that’s heavy before you put anything into it. Might I ask what sample product did you receive?

I absolutely love these bags. The Lauren totes in tall and mini are so beautiful and elegant, and the color selection is perfect. I’m eyeing the Lauren mini in Fango which is the perfect year-round neutral and after browsing the alexandradecurtis site, also the Midi Ruched Tote in blush pink for spring/summer. Great article! Thanks for introducing us to the brand. I hope to see Meghan carrying one of these very soon:)
