Today, Meghan and Harry attended the wedding of friend Misha Nonoo at Villa Aurelia in Rome, Italy.

Villa Aurelia
Meghan and Misha have been friends for several years, with a feature piece in the New York Times appearing last week about Misha, with her saying of Meghan:
“She is the most generous, the most genuine person. She is such a sister in the sense that, you know, if you’re her friend, she’ll do anything for you.”

Meghan’s look was the epitome of class at a very fashion-heavy wedding! Wearing a sheer back dress with new, bling-forward earrings, we can’t wait to see more photos of the Duchess in off-duty wedding guest mode.

What did you think of Meghan’s look for the wedding of Misha Nonoo?
So excitiing!! Love those earrings. Thought we had repeat of Jason Wue with sheer top worn to Lion King but sleeves are quite different. Meghan never disappoints in the designer stakes!!
Loved that look
I really have enjoyed seeing Meghan’s fashion choices but $13K for a dress for a friend’s wedding seems so extravagant, especially in these troubled times with the future of Britain and Brexit, and the ensuing economic instability that it brings to so many in her country. Obviously her choices for a private event are hers to make, but being a public figure, the optics of wearing such an expensive dress just reflects poorly on her. Which I find sad, because I really want everyone to admire her.
Please don’t believe everything the rags/tabloids/media prints. I have discovered that if I want honest reporting on what Meghan wears and the actual price , visiting the page of the designer is the best way to go. Also, take into consideration that Meghan is not paying full price for these items …. Her long time stylist said that Meghan pays for her clothes with her hard earned money, but of course this information does not fit the negative narrative the reporters thrives on.
I have seen the price of this black dress take on prices from eight thousand pounds , ten thousand pounds, twelve -fourteen thousand dollars and it hasn’t been 24 hours as yet. If one should believe the nasty reporters , then it would be fair to say pre-marriage Meghan was a naked pauper, which in actuality the duchess obtained her wealth by actually working.
I agree with you completely Mardy! And while the royals can’t accept “freebies” I don’t doubt that many of the bespoke pieces they wear are bought at a significant discount. I mean, they get their Land Rovers and Audi’s at a deeply discounted rate so I imagine it’s the same for their clothes. Also, since this particular dress was not worn to a “work” event, it would be paid for by the couple with their own funds.
I too have noticed what you mentioned, the royal reporters will go to great lengths in order to present Meghan in the worst possible light at all times, the Daily Mail in particular. So, while I love the photos the DM has I take anything that they write with a large helping of salt.
Lauri, I hope and pray that more people, particularly those in the UK will come to acknowledge what these reporters are doing and speak out against it,
if Meghan wear any jewelry, coats, shoes or bags from her pre-marriage days these vile humans report it as new and triple the prices.. The sad thing about all these negative reporting is that other outlet don’t investigate the nonsense, but instead report it as facts.
I have been a fan of Meghan from her Suits and Tig days, and Meghan has been nothing but kind, encouraging and sweet to her fans. The monster that the UK media and social media is trying to convince us is Meghan, is a FAT LIE! I am so nauseated by it all. I am encouraged though, because although they are scandalizing her name she keeps winning at whatever she aligns herself with. The Vogue issue sold out in 2 weeks and the capsule collection is doing great!
Let’s all build each other up, it’s more rewarding than tearing each other down.
I wanted to thank you for your post, Mardy, it’s quite a relief to see an intelligent, informed view on Meghan and it’s heartbreaking to see the kind of rubbish you have so well illustrated being spouted elsewhere. For myself I don’t believe for a moment that royals pay any other than full price for items as I don’t think it would suit their image to do otherwise. But I also think that what Meghan wears to a private event is her business and she is free to choose exactly what she likes for her best friend’s wedding.
I think she is setting a high bar for royal dressing and it’s one I appreciate, it’s certainly one that Kate has been building up to over time.. I also think they would tear into Meghan whatever she did. if she was all High Street outfits there would be screams of ‘Disrespect to the monarchy!’ It’s sad to think there is so much negative around I feel the need to appreciate a positive comment, on Meghan, but the more of them I see the better. Thank you.
The dress is gorgeous, and I would love to see it on her from the front, but I also agree with you. When you are living in part on public tax money, optics are important and the amount of money she has spent on designer clothing is eye-watering (I feel the same about the 800 McQueen coatdresses Kate has). Given the criticism lately, I am surprised about her busting out a dress that is so insanely expensive. I really question their PR team lately. I think they are great generally but there have been more than a few missteps lately.
Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie also attended the wedding. I’ve yet to see reports on the cost of their dresses or their accommodations.
I agree with the comments so far regarding the cost of Meghan s dress. Pretty as it is, she does now live partly on the public purse and spending this amount on one dress is a distasteful extravagance. I felt the same about the engagement dress (it’s pretty imilar, why didn’t she repeat that?) Displaying your extraordinary personal wealth whilst simultaneously asking others to help raise funds to support your pet charities is somewhat hypocritical. I think Meghan has a lot to offer but seriously, this leaves a bad taste.
Would love to see a front image of her wearing it as it appears to be very sheer and it looks like she is wearing something black under it. It’s a great dress!
oh my goodness, are you seriously telling me Meghan was just a few miles away from where I live, and I had no idea at all? it feels sooo weird…that venue is awesome btw, she certainly had a great time!
I love that she wears what she wants and I imagine the royal family does too as it distracts from the other, actually serious, controversies they are embroiled in. Anyway, do you, Meg! You look great! If I had the money I’d be wearing couture to every wedding too.
Oh goodness!! Another lovely showing by the Duchess! While I love her minimalist style, I also love it when she mixes it up and goes all glam!! And her hair tonight is stunning! I’ve so missed the “messy bun” 🙂
I hope you get a chance to rest up this weekend MM before the craziness of the tour starts on Monday!! I’m located on the west coast of the US and there is a 9 hour time difference between here and South Africa, what’s the time difference for you?
Keep it up Megan… I’m a fan of yours… Don’t pay attention wl all the negative criticism.. Be happy and enjoy life with your family and friends..
check out Padma Lakshmi’s earrings on the Emmys red carpet tonight! i smell more Lorraine Schwartz.
The Duchess looks nice but this is a rare miss for me. The gown has a lot going on and too fussy looking, personal preference only! I know it is done but I don’t like the mixing of both gold and silver, it is either one or the other.
One UK paper has reported that the earrings were borrowed from a friend and cost £5.00 from Portabello market in London.
