This evening, Meghan and Harry attended the London premiere of director Jon Favreau’s all-new “The Lion King”, a Disney Live Action remake of the classic feature film journeying to the African savanna where a future king must overcome betrayal and tragedy to assume his rightful place on Pride Rock.
We were so excited to see Meghan’s *yellow* carpet look… And we were not let down! Meghan’s look was in the black colour she often favours for formal events, with a dress that was both elegant as a chic little black dress and refined with sheer sleeves.
Heels: Aquazzura ‘Portrait of a Lady’ Heels 105mm
Earrings: Lorraine Schwartz Diamond & Onyx Earrings
Dress: Jason Wu Black Dress with Sheer Sleeves
Purse: Gucci ‘Broadway’ Clutch
Love Meghan’s look today? We asked the team to come up with some of their favourite #MirrorMeg options:
With the identification of the earrings Meghan wore this evening, we were also able to figure out the mystery of the earrings Meghan had on for the Trooping of the Colour. Eagle-eyed Twitter followers discovered that the black enamel frame of Meghan’s earrings from this evening were not only removable, but when removed they were the *exact* shape of rectangular diamonds she wore that day.
The detailing on the back of her dress featured an open slit which gave the dress a little extra detailing that wasn’t immediately viewable when you saw the front of the dress. The attention to detail in many of the pieces Meghan chooses are what elevates dresses like these from a simple ‘LBD’ to a work of art!
What did you think of Meghan’s look for the Lion King premiere? Will you be lining up to see Disney’s The Lion King when it opens in theatres July 19?

Archie’s parents deserve a night out!!! Not my favorite look but hair looks great, as it did yesterday at Wimbledon.
Sunni says
Basic black dress, with sheer sleeves. I could not see the hem line from the photos.

This is simply superb from Meghan tonight, she’s at the top of her game. The Jason Wu is pitch perfect, taking a classic style and adding fun twists via a sheer top and keyhole back opening. The fit-and-flare is nicely judged to be kind to Meghan’s figure at the moment with a slightly raised waistline..
I’m in awe of the precision accessories too, with their own two-tone theme, dark and gold in the beautiful earrings whose box shape is matched by the Gucci clutch with its own gilt-edged and dark styling. The Aquazura slingbacks complete the set with their own dark base, plus touch of bling on the backstrap.
And I love Meghan’s hair in these smooth updos, they seem to be getting more frequent and maybe a go-to styling for her royal role. With her hair tight to her head her lovely face takes on such a sweetness that she’s made quite enchanting. She is going to be one terrific duchess and it’s fabulous to see her emerging into the spotlight again.

I was getting ready to comment here about Meghan’s look tonight but Dear Bertie you said everything I was going to say and more!! Plus with much more eloquence than I can muster at the moment.
Bertie says
Dear Lauri, that’s so kind and typically generous of you. It’s lovely being back here with you guys again, been a long break but the spring-cleaned site made all the difference as I can now access on my mobile. I’m enjoying your own posts which I find eloquent in turn!

Hi admin, glad if the feedback helps, I can’t think of any more right now other than to say the site is a joy to use now, so easy to zip around the different sections. And I’ve always liked the layout of your posts with clear links to where items can be found and purchased. Thanks for a great blog 🙂

This is a beautiful design but not flattering on her. I’m a mother myself of 3 children and I realise she’s working on her post baby figure, but, right now she needs to make peace that right now at least she cant wear the same stuff she did pre baby. Because of her dedication to yoga she will probably be back in her pre baby shape in a matter of time. She’s beautiful now and I wish she would embrace her body as it is now (just like at the polo match…) Her Wimbledon look was stunning It’s just a fact of life…your body changes after birth, This dress just isnt right for her now.
Em says
Yeah, I agree. This dress just doesn’t work for her. The way it rides up around her middle makes me want to tug it down.
Vevie says
I think she looked fine. Not celebrity perfect, the bodice was tight, but She looked so cute.
em moss says
Why is somebody dressing her in clothes that look too small and too tight on her?
That white blazer at Wimbledon last week was so tight in her shoulders, this mesh dress here as well.
Deborah says
I agree the blazer at Wimbledon was too tight and this style is not really flattering to her, as seems too tight around the bodice. I like the evening bag and earrings.

It’s so difficult to dress so soon after childbirth. My daughter-in-law is tall, slim and gorgeous, but had a terrible time post delivery, trying to find something that fit and suited her temporary alien shape. Give Meghan a chance. I thought she looked lovely, though the fit issue was there – looked like the neckline cut into her neck a bit on some photos.
Em says
Yes, I’ve noticed those red lines on her neck!
OG SG says
Those earrings are amahhhzing. So, so far out of my price range but gorgeous. I like the dress. IMO, I’d like to see her with a softer updo…her face is definitely rounder since having the wee bebe, and softer ‘dos are more flattering…as someone with a round face that was not the result of pregnancy, lol, I usually opt for those.
Elle says
Very chic! I thought that she and Prince Harry both look great!
Karen says
Big win -all around perfection.
Ava Pittman says
The Duchess looks lovely, but I am not a fan of the dress. It seems ill fitting around bust and waist to me. Love her hair, shoes gorgeous. Prince Harry looks so handsome in his tux!
OG SG says
While I like the dress, I agree about the fit issues. It is kind of squishing her chest. She has always had fit issues though, even before she was pregnant. Stuff was always a tad too big, a tad too long, a hair too tight. She has such great clothes, she would really benefit from having a tailor…although I don’t know that one could have let the bodice out here.
Shersha says
Belle comme toujours!! The Duchess never disappoints with her evening looks. Classic figure flattering LBD, stunning accessories and to complete the look, a beautiful sleek updo. Love it.
IC says
I think you have the wrong earrings. They look much smaller on the model than on Meghan.
OG SG says
I also meant to say thanks to MM for including a plus size dress option for us fluffier chicks. Also, if there are any out there who like Jason Wu, a lot of his collection with Eloquii is on semi annual clearance. Nothing like Meghan’s dress, but some pieces similar to her style, like a sleeveless trench dress.
Laura B. says
I think the Duchess looks stunning! The looks is all around elegant and classic. I know we are not here to talk about Prince Harry, but he’s looking quite dapper as well! So glad to see Meghan getting out a bit. I’ve missed watching her activities (and outfits!).
Dani says
This was not a good look. The dress is beautiful, but the fit is so bad. She’s not back to pre-pregnancy weight (would be crazy if she was!), so she can’t just wear clothes like this. There’s a reason why there’s maternity clothing out there. They are cut to accommodate all the places that women tend to swell up because of baby, midsection and chest, and still fit properly.I don’t know why some women are so against using maternity clothing when in general they will fit the pre and postpartum body better.
Barbara Abraham says
Your Royal Highnesses the Duke and Duchess of Sussex looked very nice at the Lion King event. Sadly, someone has commented that HRH The Duke of Sussex’s bowtie and shirt were both ready made.
Fatima says
Love that she is going out despite not returning to her pre-maternity size. There are two simple realities with your post delivery body: super hard to find clothes that fit you well, even if they are bespoke and you are a millionaire, which highlights the unreasonable expectation of society for you to “snap back” despite the challenges of being a new mother, and you might not return to you pre pregnancy size, no matter how much you restrict calories and/or eat clean and exercise. Many women have thyroid issues after pregnancy that can prevent you from losing weight. Also breastfeeding makes it difficult for some to loose the weight. Both were realities for me. While I agree this dress looked a bit tight in the bodice, I still thought she looked regal. The stones on the shoes were a bit much for me.
