Today, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry appeared in Bath to watch and cheer on some of the 451 hopefuls competing for a place on Team Great Britain at the fourth Invictus Games in Sydney, coming up in October.
Harry and Meghan watched track and field trials before heading indoors to see sitting volleyball.
Meghan’s look was casual, yet still elevated from boring with the addition of the fluid lines in the form of a coat from Aritzia, a Canadian brand Meghan has favoured in the past.
Coat: Aritzia Babaton Lawson Trench
Boots: Stuart Weitzman Axiom Booties
Top: SuperDry Invictus Team GB Polo Shirt

Many will remember that Meghan and Harry’s first official public outing was to an event at the Invictus Games in Toronto last year.
Here are the pieces that made up this iconic Meghan look, including the now back in stock Everlane Market tote!

Not feeling the rumbled jeans! Maybe a more appropriate footwear choice; athletic shoes, there are plenty of cute, fashionable options. Often wonder how one walks through grass in heels!

Meghan looks great in black and it’s lovely to see her sporting an Invictus top. The trench coat looks very laid back and the dull neutral tone is a nice foil for the black — she looks great. I’m interested to see the coat styled for being worn open to the extent it has no belt, maybe doing your belt up round the back has gone out of style. This one hangs beautifully. I suppose there’ll have to be more sleuthing to determine what she might be wearing on her feet, though we can see stiletto heels. In some early pics it also looks like she’s carrying a large shapeless bag I think we’ve seen before, but can’t possibly remember where! Thanks for such a great speedy post.

Nash.. not a bag at all, just a fold in the coat in the breeze & maybe the light catching it in a different way

I hate hate HATE skinny jeans because I look terrible in them so I sincerely hope that Meghan is going to start a trend with bootcuts again. 🙂 I like her look although I think the boots were a bit much for an outdoor sporty event.

I’m so glad too see Meghan and Harry out and about today, it feels like forever since we’ve seen them. I have to say that I’m thrilled Meghan went with straight leg jeans today as they’re my favorite cut of jeans and pretty much all I wear. I’m curious as to why she wore high heeled booties as opposed to sneakers or athletic shoes. I see that her jeans are pretty long so maybe that’s the reason or maybe she’s just more comfortable in heels.
Thanks for such a speedy post MM!!
Bertie says
I think that particular pair of jeans need heels to cope with the leg length. Also it’s a bootcut jean and I think they’re making a comeback being worn long with heels like this.
Lauri says
Yeah, as I soon as I hit “post” I realized that her jeans are bootcut not straight, what can I say I’m still on my first cup of hot lemon juice this morning! 🙂 I used to wear bootcut but I noticed that they tend to give me a rather pear shape, now if I could find them in a bit looser fit then they would be perfect.
Bertie says
No worries Lauri, I’m just recovering from a bout of Imaginary Bag Syndrome, above, with strong coffee & cake. I get that prob with flares too, I need a heeled boot to work with even small bootcut tho I tend to stick to straights out of habit!

Imaginary Bag Syndrome! That made us LOL!
Bertie says
Er…well I was thinking of calling it IBgS for short so as to avoid any unfortunate association ?

Lovely causal look for Meghan. Nice way to integrate the Invictus shirt with the jeans. Perfect boot choice as well. So nice to see her out at this event.

Just say no to scruffy jeans, no matter how ‘casual’ the event! I’m not feeling the boots in the context of the event, either, but suppose ‘boot cut jeans + boots’ makes sense if you’re going in that direction. Like the coat. A rare miss IMHO.

Me neither, it’s one of the very few times that I am not a fan of her outfit — not hating it, but not loving it either. I would have like to see her in more appropriate shoes, the women with the tan trench nailed it for the occasion!

Agreed!

Meghan looks cute, but I agree with some posts above I wish the pants were quite so rumpled (although I’m an ironing freak!) and I would have loved some cute sneakers or flats, but I agree the length was probably dictating the shoe/boot! I love that she had the Invictus Shirt on!
Iris says
Weren’t** so rumpled! Grr auto check!
Tia says
This whole outfit just looks so thrown together. I get that she is trying to establish herself as the relatable member of the family, but it just looks like she often puts zero though into what she wears. Heels for a sporting engagement seems odd.
Karin van den Hoek says
I also thought she could be wearing the Stuart Weitzman booties, but on the Weitzman site the sole is in black! Yet on the Zappos.com it is light coloured! So you’re right in IDing it but strange that it depends on the country of purchase whether you get the one or the other sole.

Autant la forme que le style sont complètement dépassé avec ce pantalon. Couleurs tristounettes pas franchement printanière. Elle a des jambes beaucoup trop fines pour porter ça ce n’est pas seyant du tout. Dommage.
