Prince Harry and Meghan Markle attended a reception today to celebrate the forthcoming Invictus Games happening in Sydney, Australia this fall.
Hosted by Malcolm Turnbull, Prime Minister of Australia, and his wife Lucy Turnbull, the reception was held at the Australian High Commission. Harry and Meghan heard more about how plans are progressing for this year’s Games.
Meghan’s look was perfectly prim and professional, mixing on-trend ruffles and floral with a tailored blazer and heels.

We also thought it was interesting to point out that since Meghan has been representing the royal family, the only colour she’s worn clothing wise (other than the basics of white/grey/black/navy) is green. This is surely not a coincidence. Green is a lovely colour on Meghan, and a trend we hope to see continue!

Love Meghan’s look today? We asked the team to come up with some of their favourite #MirrorMeg options:
Jane says
Where are Bertie and Lauri? Can already predict their comments will be about how wonderful this outfit is : )
Jane says
This is the best ouyfit she wore this week – didn’t like the other two as the stripes dress outfit had too much going and the Jackie O dress was a boring choice.
Lauri says
Here I am Jane!! I just woke up! it’s only 7am here in Cali! Lmao, so nice of you to think of me!
Jane says
Hi Lauri : )
Bertie says
Wow — this is serious working royal, as long as Meghan doesn’t take the jacket off and upset the anti-cold-shoulder brigade! I’m a sucker for the classic green-white-black combo in a print so this one’s right up my street.
The dress is sensational, with so much movement thanks to the radiating knife pleats and all those boho ruffles are so pretty. Once again Meghan has chosen a perfect length, just below the knee. I like how the shoulder straps morph into a defining black and the daring low back is fun, but best covered on official duty. I wonder if the dropped sleeve ruffles are meant to be seen as ‘sleeves’ – whatever, they too are super-cute.
That’s a terrific re-wear for a divine jacket and one very neat shoulder bag from Mouret to go with it, with an interesting gleam of gold via the strap. Meghan’s hair is looking thicker and lustrous every time I see it and a final real high point of the ensemble for me is that she’s savvy enough to leave her neck bare of any chain or pendant. Chic!

This site is so lovely to look at, and of course, informative for those wanting to emulate Meghan’s style. 🙂 I’ve noticed she’s been wearing the same nail color, a beautiful light color that seems royally appropriate and good for Spring! Do you know the name of the color? (My first thought was a royal favorite: Essie’s Ballet Slippers?)
Thank you for the great coverage!
Lynn says
To me it looks sheerer than Ballet Slippers. My manicuriest introduced me to Sugar Daddy from Essie, this looks a lot like it as it is sheerer and you can see the whites of her nails. I never see the whites of my nails with Ballet Slippers.
Lauri says
I’m so glad that Meghan choose to wear a blazer over this dress or her exposed shoulders would have sent the internet into a meltdown! 🙂 However I would like to see this dress without the blazer sometime though.
I love this dress! The green looks lovely on Meghan and it’s so different from her usual sleek, no frills style. As usual she styled it perfectly, the purse and pumps take it from a frilly summer dress to a dress appropriate for this type of occasion. While I do like the blazer and I do like the blazer with this dress, I think it might have looked a bit better with some type of cardigan sweater, a little softer, a little more fem. And my goodness, her skin is just radiant!! I wonder if it’s the green of this dress that’s making her look more lovely than usual today? Wondering this because I too stick to a neutral, monochromatic palette and recently a saleswoman talked my into trying on a coral red colored blouse and when I walked out of the dressing room, 3 complete strangers complimented me on this blouse and how great it made me look. Apparently coral red is my color! Anyhow, it’s making me think I might want to add a bit more color into my wardrobe, maybe, it’s tough for someone who’s never worn “colors” before.

It’s such a great look… The pop of colour seems to have appeased those who wanted to see some on Meghan, while still pairing it with a black blazer and heels keeps it more authentic to her. We’re GREEN with envy 😉
Lauri says
I think we’ll start seeing more color on Meghan now that it’s spring. Like a lot of us, she wears darker, neutral colors in the winter and brings out the colors for spring/summer.
I want to add a big thanks to you MM!! I frequent other Meghan-centric sites and the some of the nasty things that are said about her and her clothes, well it just boggles the mind that people waste their time on someone they clearly don’t like. So Thank You to you and your lovely readers for keeping this site more positive! I’m sure that Meghan will wear outfits that some love and others don’t, Viva La Difference, but I’m so thrilled that none here feel the need to be nasty or cruel.
Bertie says
So far on her royal beat Meghan has managed green in Belfast and purple at the Invictus closing ceremony. Looks like we’re approaching colour with caution. I think on Twitter you pointed out this might be a first repeat for her with the jacket, repeats so far have been accessories like these shoes and the Sentaler scarf from Brixton, first seen when Meghan landed in London for keeps.
I’d like to add my own thanks for such a positive website. Like Lauri, I’ve felt grief from comments left elsewhere. This site is a haven!
Lynn says
She looks beautiful today! I love that she stays true to herself and I hope she keeps up this more modern look as she is a breath of fresh air in the royal family.
Lauri says
I was just browsing some photos of today’s event at Getty Images and noticed that the heels of Meghan’s shoes are caked with mud! How odd, I don’t see any mud or dirt at this event. Could she maybe have gotten them muddy at KP, when entering the car? it’s so bizarre!
Deborah Lorenzen says
Its nice to see her wearing a colorful silk print. I would like to see the dress not covered with a blazer, of course protocol I guess, dictates she has to wear a blazer. Is it really that daring?I think one of her ankle tie shoes would have looked better with this dress, the simple pump is a little businesslike for this delicate look.
Iris says
Lauri and Bertie, I completely agree with your praise for the positivity on MM! I frequent other blogs here and there but get frustrated by the nastiness and jealousy. I truly enjoy posting and reading all of the comments here! OMG color!! I was waiting for some as I bet every color looks amazing with her skin and hair! Meghan looks gorgeous, she loves a midi length pleated dress! This outfit is incredibly appropriate and so pretty, I was wondering if we’ll ever see Meghan rock a sleek low ponytail or half up half down hairstyle?
SG says
I too would have liked to see a different shoe because I am so tired of Kate’s plain suede pumps at every event 🙂 And Meghan wore the same pumps TWICE today…I hope it does not become a trend with her, too. I like how even when MM wears a monochromatic shoe, it usually has a stylish and interesting detail like the ankle straps, so I am resistant to seeing her in plain pumps.
Overall, though, I love this outfit. I like the blazer over the dress, actually, because it makes it look a bit more put together. I am not part of the group of people who clutch their pearls at the sight of bare shoulders, but I think the ruffly sleeves are more appropriate for a casual event. I think one can look professional without sleeves, like Michelle Obama and her sleeveless sheaths (remember how people lost their minds about THAT? LOL), but this particular dress I think looks more professional with the blazer.
MariaElena says
LOVE this dress! I’m not sure about the blazer with it…I think something with a softer cut would’ve been better…but it did sorta made the outfit more “professional” Just not comfortable with the tailored/boho mix. I’m not a “pearl clutcher” either but…for a future royal…and as proper as they present themselves…I’m amazed at how low cut this is. Remember Diana’s black dress for her first royal event? I’m surprised Meghan didn’t at least have a necklace on.
I get the feeling the blazer was a “last minute” addition in a “you cannot go out like that” declaration
I would also like to see her gravitate away from those suede stilleto heel pumps every day too.
