Today marked the official start of the Royal Tour of Australia by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex as they welcomed His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove, Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia and Her Excellency Lady Cosgrove to Admiralty House, where they are staying.
At the welcoming ceremony, Meghan and Harry met with representatives from all eighteen countries represented in the Invictus Games and then had an official meeting on the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove. Following the meet & greet, the couple travelled to the Taronga Zoo to officially open the new Taronga Institute of Science and Learning.
At the iconic Sydney zoo, they met with a koala and some local schoolchildren who presented them with a toy for the newest royal baby. Meghan donned a classic trench coat to accommodate the windier weather. After their visit to the zoo, Meghan and Harry went on their first walkabout at the Sydney Opera House. Seeing the huge crowds that came out to greet them must have been an incredible experience.
In public for the first time since the announcement of her pregnancy, Meghan was smiling, happy and had nary a baby bump visible in a fitted white dress. Meghan turned to Australian designers early on the tour, selecting designer Karen Gee for the engagement. She wore a timeless pair of taupe suede Stuart Weitzman heels, but swapped them for comfortable black flats throughout the day. The most significant part of Meghan’s outfit was her jewelry – butterfly stud earrings and a coordinating bangle, which originally belonged to Diana, Princess of Wales.
Heels: Stuart Weitzman Legend Pump
Flats: Rothy’s “The Point” Black Flats
Dress: Karen Gee ‘Blessed’ Dress
Trench Coat:: Martin Grant “Style 1” Trench Coat
Earrings: Gold Butterfly Earrings that belonged to Princess Diana
Bracelet: Gold bracelet from set that belonged to Princess Diana
Sunglasses: Krewe Eyewear ‘Gravier’ Sunglasses

What did you think of Meghan’s look for the the start of the Royal Tour Australia?
Danielle says
One of my favorite looks of hers yet! One of her most breathtaking. She stuns in white, and the simple silhouette is so her. I truly cannot stop staring at pictures of her in this dress! If ever there was a dress designed just for her, it’s truly this one.
The irony of the (thrilling!) royal baby announcement is this dress would have put “rumors” to rest! Lol! After the loose coat, nobody would have guessed in this dress. It’s perfect for her, and she truly is glowing. So excited for the Duke and Duchess!
Danielle says
Can I also add I love that she didn’t change! It’s nice to throw on a coat and use one outfit for three very different events. It’s so practical. It was a nice touch. Love Diana’s jewelry as well! What an overall touching day for the books.
OG SG says
She looks great in white…very cool and crisp. But the nude shoes, snooze. With white, one could wear virtually anything, and she goes with nude pumps. Sigh.
Madison Mile says
The royal baby news made my morning today! Duchess Meghan looks SO happy!
The white dress is the perfect cut and shape for her, and by the way, not every pregnant woman could pull this off at 4 months and look so chic and pulled together.
The nude pumps look very nice with the dress, and while not ground breaking, I think they were the perfect choice for today’s visit and the local.
Deborah A. Lorenzen says
I wonder how many pairs of nude pumps she packed? LOL, She looks nice..easy breezy!
OG SG says
Hopefully just the one or my head might explode before the tour is over. Heh. I just really hate them. Someone put out a memo in Hollywood that nude shoes make one’s legs look longer so all the stars wear them, and Kate wears them like 80 percent of the time, and I am just heartily fed up with them. Like, think how cute a pair of black and white polka dotted pumps would have looked with this! There are SO many options :-/

I thought Kensington Palace reported she is 12 weeks along?
Lauri says
Congratulations to mother and father-to-be!!!!! I’m so excited for Prince Harry in particular, after pining for a child of his own for years his wish is coming true!!!
I love this look on Meghan, from her hair to her shoes, she looks gorgeous!! How sweet that she’s wearing 2 pieces of Diana’s jewelry! Such a lovely “gift” to the mom-to-be!! Starting this tour with an Australian designer makes me excited that Aussie and Kiwi designers will be highlighted much more than on other royal tours.
Tammy says
She looks lovely today. The dress and shoes are perfect. I love the butterfly earrings that were Princess Diana’s!! Do we know who made them and are they still being made? Long shot I know but I love them.
Thank you

Sadly we don’t know the designer right now, and it is unlikely that they are still in production, but we are finding loads of beautiful MirrorMeg styles!

We’re excited too! Can’t wait to see what the rest of the tour brings… Can’t wait to “meet” some new designers!!! – A
Karen says
Finally…absolute perfection from top to toe. Remember she is a thin woman so 12 weeks of pregnancy on her doesn’t look the same as 12 weeks of pregnancy on the rest of us! Kate also didn’t show a bump for some time. Such exciting news!
JMAE says
Saw other pictures from different angle, especially from the side and the bump is definitely noticeable. They definitely wouldn’t have been able to say it’s just a food baby so I think they absolutely did the right thing by announcing yesterday. It gives this tour an extra added dimension for sure. I’m loving her look today. Very Meghan for sure and the Diana earrings and bracelet even match her own style.
Lisa says
MM do you have an ID on the black flats she changed into briefly? I was very happy to see her in flats albeit for a short time.
Beth says
They are Rothys pointed toe black flats. I own them so recognized the blue stripe at the back! Very comfortable and well priced 🙂
Danielle says
Agreed! It was like an “old” Meghan moment straight out of a Toronto. 🙂
Donna B says
They look like they could be a pair of Rothy’s The Point flats in black–the shape is really similar. https://rothys.com/products/the-point-black-solid
Carolin says
Do you know from which brand the black flats are from?
And do you know the brand of the stunning sunglasses which she wores today?
Rielly Riggs says
I think the nice thing about the nude pumps is that they’re versatile and match her trench coat perfectly! Love this look on her- she truly looks like she’s glowing head to toe. So happy for them.
Ali says
The flats are Rothy’s; you can tell by the blue stitching on the top of the heel. They’re *extremely* comfortable. https://rothys.com/products/the-point-black-solid
