Let’s face it… Meghan Markle is a lover of accessories. From the stylish hats that adorn her head to the skillfully designed ring stacks on her fingers, she’s got stylish accessories down to an art. One of our favourite things in the Duchess’ accessories cabinet is her chic – and sometimes edgy – sunglasses collection. There is no shortage of examples of when sunglasses not only completed Meghan’s look, but were arguably the star of it. Here are three times Meghan Markle sunglasses were the star of her style.
FINLAY London ‘Percy’ Sunglasses – Invictus Games Toronto, 2017
Everyone remembers the excitement when Harry and Meghan stepped out to attend the Invictus Games in Toronto. Their first time as a couple!
Meghan’s look drew much attention from the fashion media for her skillful combination of distressed denim with polished pieces, but it was the sunglasses that were flying off the shelves. FINLAY London’s ‘Percy’ Light Tortoise sunglasses were one of the first products to experience the Meghan Effect. The glasses instantly sold out after Meghan wore them and the ‘Percy’ style in Light Tortoise remains the brand’s best-selling style. FINLAY London’s glasses are the perfect companion to a Spring wardrobe refresh if you weren’t able to get your hands on them the first time around as they’re now back in stock!
And if you already own a pair of the brand’s now iconic glasses? The new line from FINLAY London is just as timeless, with several new styles now available for Spring. We love the ‘Henrietta’ and ‘Albany’ styles – and are swooning over the new colours available for the ‘Percy’ (like the frosted lavender). FINLAY London’s glasses are not only stylish on their own, but also come with the option to personalize with your own initials… Just like ‘MM’ did!
Krewe ‘Gravier’ Sunglasses – Royal Tour Australia, 2018
When you have as many pairs of sunglasses as Meghan does, it is likely hard to pick a favourite pair. We love to see Meghan repeat some of her favorite pairs, as she did with the Krewe ‘Gravier’ sunglasses whilst out and about in Australia.
The black frames made the style versatile and practical to go with just about anything, while we loved the fact that they had unique detailing in their gold details that made them stand out.
We fell in love with not only the versatility of Meghan’s glasses, but also with the architectural details of the matte accoutrements and the nod to the homeplace of Krewe, New Orleans. We found some other glasses with unique architectural details that you can add to your collection to stand out this summer season.
Illesteva ‘Palm Beach’ Sunglasses – Royal Tour Australia, 2018
While stepping out in Sydney on the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s first Royal Tour of Australia, we weren’t surprised to see a black and white look from Meghan. What we were surprised with was that the look featured the perfect – and practical – accessory in a bold, edgy style.
Wearing a yellow tortoiseshell pair of Illesteva’s ‘Palm Beach’ glasses, we were bombarded with questions about the subtle cat-eye frames that have been modernized to make them more contemporary than some of the cat-eyes of yore.
The cat eye frame was made popular in the 1950s and 1960s, but have been making an invigorated modern revival. They fit really well with Meghan’s love of a good vintage piece and while the beehive hairstyles from the first time around should probably be left in the past, these frames are a great throwback to add to your style wardrobe. Here are some of our favourite cat-eyes with a lot of that tortoise personality.
What are some of your favourite Meghan pairs of sunglasses? We’d love to hear which of her collection – below – are your faves!

Loved the gold Mykita Timothy’s! I still haven’t been able to find a lookalike. They’re so unique!

I love her sunglasses game but I am far too careless with my sunglasses to spend more than $30 a pair. 🙁

I’m an LA girl so a wardrobe of sunglasses is a must. I’m always looking to add a new, cool pair and I love the glasses you’ve picked out! My only gripe is that I wish that you had included links to your excellent selections, specifically those Kam Dhillon The Sphinx. ( hint, hint) as I can’t seem to find them! Thank you!
