And just like that, another Christmas is over. If Santa didn’t deliver everything you had your heart set on this year, you can take a deep breath and head directly to our favourite one-stop shop that carries many of Meghan’s favourite fashion brands and thousands of our favourite MirrorMegs – Nordstrom.
Nordstrom is a favourite destination of ours not only because of their great style selection, but because they offer an amazing in-store experience. If you’ve not taken advantage of some of their offerings, you definitely should. Just to name two we love, they have talented personal and beauty stylists (many we’ve worked with have professional stylist businesses on the side and are legitimate fashionistas) and they have tailoring and alterations on-site so you don’t have to wonder if that dress you just bought should be altered – you’ll get the advice you need and be able to get it done! Nordstrom is also having one of their famous half-yearly sales RIGHT NOW where you can get some amazing deals from their sale, which is currently on through January 2nd. Not better time to MirrorMeg!
We’ve pulled together all that you need to successfully add some Meghan-inspired pieces to your wardrobe in 2019: three full MirrorMeg-inspired looks with pieces for every budget and then some of our favourite pieces that we could absolutely see on the Duchess in the future.
Meghan Inspired Looks
Part of the fun of being inspired by Meghan Markle is through finding pieces that Meghan has worn, seeking inspiration from them and making them into looks that suit your lifestyle/budget/reality. We always find it fun to look at a reference photo of Meghan and see what we might be able to transform it into. Nordstrom‘s got pretty much something for everyone so it wasn’t hard to put these three fun looks together.
Meghan Inspired Look : Pretty in Pink
Pink is one of those colours that Meghan wears on occasion – the blush shade has appeared several times in the wardrobes of Meghan Markle and the Duchess of Sussex. We imagined a soft look based on her affection for the romantic shade.
Meghan Inspired Look : Turtleneck Fever
Meghan loves a good, warm turtleneck – we’ve seen both chunky and thin-knit versions keep her warm over the years. We loved the silhouette that the draping pleated skirt offers with the thin fabric and blended the two in a neutral palette we could see on Meghan.
Meghan Inspired Look : Royally Casual
Behind the doors at Kensington Palace, you know Meghan is into casual, comfortable clothes! We paired some distressed denim with a classic peacoat and a warm sweater to imagine a very casual Duchess.
Playing Meghan Stylist
We love to take guesses on what Meghan could/might/should wear in the future… Especially around sale time. We picked out three pieces that we think would fit seamlessly into the Duchess’ wardrobe (you’re welcome, Kensington Palace fashion team) and paired them with some of the other pieces we’d pair them up with.
Winter Weather Wear
As anyone who has lived through a London winter will tell you, the need for your winter attire to be warm and waterproof are a necessity. Burberry released a new version of their classic and aptly named ‘Kensington’ coat with a warm hood and a showerproof material. We think the trench’s style from a quintessential British brand would be definitely of interest to Meghan – it’s a brand she has also worn before. We’d pair it with Club Monaco’s similarly named Kensington scarf and a luxurious tote.
Gimme the Givenchy
It’s not hard to guess that Meghan would consider some of her go-to brand… We fell in love with the unique details on the Givenchy wool wrap skirt with a belt detail that, while still expensive, is a steal for an investment piece. We’d pair it with a blazer (Meghan would likely love the white and black of this J.Crew option, and the subtle pearl detail on these shoes.
The Drape-y Shirt
We all know the Duchess loves a good drape-y shirt, and we love the price and flexibility of this style by Madewell – a brand she has turned too before. We’d make it pop with the addition of plaid pants, a bright bucket bag and some jewelry!
Baby Sussex
We didn’t forget the soon-to-be Baby Sussex! We couldn’t help but pick up some of Nordstrom’s cashmere line which was all on sale. Adorable, gender neutral cable-knit cashmere at bargain prices? You can’t go wrong.
And if you can’t get into a Nordstrom store during the sale.. Don’t worry! While it’s fun to visit the Nordstrom stores, we have to admit that we do most of our ordering online. If you’re worried about rushing out to get that Meghan specific piece, they even have a reserve online feature which lets you open up a browser and reserve a piece to try on in store. It’s been of huge help to us in the past… For all those “emergency” Meghan inspired purchases.

Lol, I love “For all those “emergency” Meghan inspired purchases.”!!! I do admit that I’ve more of those types of “emergencies” since Meghan came on the scene and these wonderful shop like Meghan posts just add fuel to the fire 🙂 Thanks to the MM crew for all of your hard work researching items that we might want to add to our wardrobes!
I wish you all a very Happy New Year!!
