Can you believe it’s that the Oscars are coming up so quickly? On March 4th, we’ll watch Hollywood’s finest get dressed up to the 9s for the legendary awards ceremony.
While Meghan will not be attending, we thought it would be fun to unearth some of her best red carpet beauty secrets. With the Tig having shut down, we were saddened that several years of archives – including amazing tips & IDs from Meghan herself on her fashion choices – would be lost to the depths of the internet. Luckily, we were able to track down the archives and today we’re sharing some of Meghan’s red carpet beauty picks with you in a the next instalment of the Tig Throwback Thursdays series.
As an actress, Meghan Markle got glammed up for red carpet events on a regular basis – it was part of her job! It was also part of her job to look as perfect as we have come to know her to be. Luckily for us (and other actresses out there?) she shared some of her top picks for beauty products on the red carpet in a Tig post back from 2015.
Here’s what Meghan had to say about her red carpet experience – and make-up artist.
After a whirlwind of New York Fashion Week with my right hand man, make-up guru, Daniel Martin, I learned a few more tips to keep my face looking camera ready when off-duty or on the red carpet. Rest assured this Sunday his tips will come into play to keep some of Hollywood’s finest faces looking (and staying) flawless as they go from the step and repeat, to the award ceremony, to a long night of celebrating followed by requisite late night feasting at In-N-Out. The maquillage has to last – and the same can be said for a special work event or when you find yourself dancing the night away at a friend’s wedding. Here are the essentials from a man who is absolutely essential in my life.
Meghan’s NYFW look was spectacular for those shows. Naturally gorgeous, dewy and fresh.
Just who is Daniel Martin? His biography shares:
“Born to a French father and Vietnamese mother, makeup artist Daniel Martin was raised in four different countries and four different states before the age of 15. His earliest memory of makeup was watching his French grandmother put her face on for the day. There was a method to her ritual that he found fascinating; from prepping the skin with a certain tonic, to a lipstick used for both lips and cheeks. From a young age he understood that makeup wasn’t about what one uses, but how one uses it.”
Daniel was a frequent contributor to the Tig, and we’d speculate to be a good candidate to be the royal wedding makeup artist. He collaborated on many beauty features on the Tig, including tips on how to refresh your makeup, like below:
One of our favourite posts though was the insight he gave, as Meghan’s “right-hand man” on his beauty picks, which she also was said to have tried. We think it’s safe to say these gems might have wound up with MM too.
So… Just what were those red carpet essentials that have undoubtedly wound up as Meghan Markle’s picks too?
