Meghan and Harry were spotted out for dinner with friends in Montecito. The couple, who have kept a low profile since moving to Montecito, enjoyed a lengthy dinner at a steakhouse.
Meghan looked extremely chic in an autumnal outfit, featuring leather trousers, a crop-sleeved trench, and statement shoes. A new bag from Stella McCartney completed the look. Meghan wore a neutral-toned mask, possibly linen or cotton.
Coat: Club Monaco ‘Reissue’ Trench
Heels: Chloe Gosselin ‘Cassia’ Orange Mules
Trousers: Cropped leather skinny trousers, TBC
Purse: Stella McCartney Small Logo Crossbody Bag
Sweater: Cuyana Camel Wool Cashmere Sweater

Basic autumn outfit – I would rather put my arms into the jacket – but to each their own!!!

Camel crew neck may be Cuyana’s wool cashmere blend. I have one similar to it. Very nice. I like her chic laid back look.

Right. To each their own though. Meghan has previously done this (i.e., wear a jacket or sweater or coat over her shoulders). It’s part of her casual style vibe. I recall her wearing a black blazer over her shoulders during an event with Harry leading up to their May 2018 wedding. It was a memorable outfit with a crossbody bag and a sleeveless midi-length trench dress with a stylized belt that had the buckled part hanging very low down the side of the dress, as I recall. It was not my favorite look of hers. Still, the thing about Meghan is that she tends to carry off every look well, with some notable exceptions. During the 2017 Invictus Games in Toronto, Meghan wore that gorgeous burgundy pleated outfit, with a matching burgundy biker jacket worn casually over her shoulders. She rocked that outfit. She has worn during her Suits days, a white studded biker jacket over a white mini dress to a fashion event. On this page, we see the photo of Meghan supporting Serena at the U.S. Open wearing the denim dress with a light-blue shawl-like coat over her shoulders. There have been other instances of this over-the-shoulder style vibe from Meghan. It seems to be part of her California casual cool.
Of Meghan’s misses, there was that country wedding dress by Oscar de la Renta that she wore to a Spencer relative’s wedding. It was overly bulky and too smothering on Meghan’s petite frame. But perhaps it was too late for her to make a change when it arrived and she realized it was too big on her. Who knows? Anyway, it was a pretty blue flower print on a white background, and it would have looked great had it fitted better without so much bagginess and excess fabric.
I have a number of favorite looks by Meghan, including the black and white bird gown worn at the National Geographic awards event in Australia; the iconic Antonio Berardii asymmetrical hem sailor-themed navy dress with the zippered back that Meghan wore to her first polo outing with Harry in May or June of 2017 when they were still dating. On that occasion she also wore a white blazer over her shoulders! Another example of that style vibe. Other fave Meghan looks of mine include the blue cape-like Safiyaa gown worn in Fiji (the similar red Safiyaa cape gown in March 2020 at Royal Albert Hall); the stunning red cape dress Meghan wore on arrival in Morocco while pregnant; the chic white trench dress by Grace Wells Bonner that Meghan wore to introduce Archie; the yellow sleeveless maxi dress by Brandon Maxwell; the Black Halo Jackie-O LBD; the black and white dress made of Malawi sourced fabric by Mayamiko, worn in South Africa; the Victoria Beckham cornflower blue short sleeved fitted dress with back zipper for Endeavour 2020 in the iconic rain photo. I also like the recent casual white linen shift asymmetrical dress by Magic Linen Meghan wore in L.A..

Mia,
Once again your commentary is amazing! Your detail and analysis is really fantastic. I love coming to this blog, learning so much about Meghan and her style, and of course reading such great comments like yours. Each time I visit this website, I can feel the positivity jumping off the page! Am I the only one? And thanks for the reminder of the burgundy outfit from Invictus, that was stunning! Love that colour!

I love the color of those orange mule heels with front buckle. I could never wear shoes with heels like that though. I don’t know how she carries it off. I wonder whether she does special leg and calf exercises in order to wear the relatively high-heeled shoes we see her in often. She’s always very graceful when she walks in these type of shoes, and she has excellent posture too.
BTW, I also love Meghan’s ‘Husband’ shirt by Msha Nonoo, and a number of other outfits too both pre and post her meeting and marrying Harry. I don’t particularly care for the ripped jeans look for myself, but it always looks great on Meghan. She knows how to dress for her body, and she’s generally on point for every occasion.

Love the orange mules!
As to the negative comment above: the bloggers have said before, if you don’t like her, don’t come here.
That said, some people hate getting in and out of coats…you can see it in them from the time they are infants. Some people just don’t like feeling confined….perhaps that’s why she wears things over the shoulder. We all have our quirks. I don’t necessarily think it’s a fashion statement.

I love Meghan’s shoes but can’t justify the $605 price :-/
So I just ordered a great Mirror Meg from Ann Taylor instead! The Phoenix Suede Buckle Mules are an extra 70% off but selling fast. The orange is a great pop of color for Fall., can’t wait to get them.
